Happy for the McGee family backstory coming up on NCIS, but when are we going to get the Abby arc we were promised? — Tory
ADAM: Soon — like, in-the-first-few-episodes soon! "We're going to actually get into a story line that's going to reveal something about Abby's past and her family that people aren't going to see coming," executive producer Gary Glasberg teases. "It's a revelation that she makes on her part... and it's going to tee up a mini-arc." Speaking of family, Glasberg also confirms that both Ralph Waite and Robert Wagner will return this season as Papas Gibbs and DiNozzo, respectively.
We've learned a lot of Ziva's father, played by Michael Nouri, and how he shaped the woman she is on NCIS. But what about the special agent's mother?
Cote de Pablo tells TV Guide that she wants to move away from stories about Eli David and introduce some motherly love to her character's backstory.
She may get that chance in the show's upcoming ninth season.
"Ziva will be dealing with a Middle Eastern family, and the matriarch connects with her in a really interesting, personal way," says executive producer Gary Glasberg.
Sounds like Ziva could use the support, too.
"Someone from her past we haven't met before is coming forward," he says. "[Also], Ray will probably come back halfway through the season, and they will intersect."
Who do you think will come forward, and how will Ray's story arc evolve in the coming season? Could it be Ziva's mother who is introduced - possibly in flashbacks?
I think that Rivka might be an interesting insight to her character, but the thing about the flashbacks leads me to believe that she might not be alive? I also think they mentioned her being dead.
As for CIA Ray he makes my blood boil. Can we PLEASE get rid of him?? Trouble in Tel Aviv didn't sound too good either.. I wonder if they are related?

Jamie Lee Curtis to spar with Gibbs on 'NCIS'
It’s a Freaky Friday reunion for NCIS star Mark Harmon and Jamie Lee Curtis. Curtis has been booked for two episodes of TV’s top-rated drama that will air in November. She’ll play strong-willed career woman and single mom Charlotte Ryan, from the Office of the Inspector General in the Department of Defense, who will spar with Gibbs and the team.
Says exec producer Gary Glasberg, “The role of ‘Charlotte Ryan’ got even better when the enormously talented Jamie Lee Curtis agreed to join us. Jamie’s shoot-from-the-hip style embodies everything we want from Ryan — humor, heart, strength, and a lot of fun. We couldn’t be more excited she’s here. And don’t be surprised if there are sparks between Gibbs and Ryan. We’re expecting some real chemistry.”

'NCIS' Season 9 Spoilers: Jamie Lee Curtis Joins Cast for November Sweeps
NCIS is already planning for their November sweeps episodes, and the actress they have gotten for two episodes has worked with series star Mark Harmon before, in the movie Freaky Friday with Lindsay Lohan.
New Gibbs love interest?
According to TVLine, Jamie Lee Curtis and Mark Harmon are reuniting on the CBS procedural drama in two November sweeps episodes. Curtis' character is "Charlotte Ryan, a strong, opinionated career woman from the Office of the Inspector General in the Department of Defense." She "will spar with Gibbs and the team like never before," and Gary Glasberg has said not to "be surprised if there are sparks between Gibbs and Ryan." It sounds like this is going to be good casting, and they've proven they work pretty well together already. This seems to be something fans should look forward to in season 9.
These aren't the only NCIS spoilers out for November sweeps, as it has been revealed that two episodes will feature Gibbs overseas. Could these be the same episodes? Those are supposedly part of a two-parter, as is the latest Jamie Lee Curtis casting. The upcoming season is sounding like it should be just as good as the others have been, and it's no surprise the show seems to be just as strong as ever going into a year which will feature its 200th episode.

How Long Will E.J. Stay at NCIS?
Sarah Jane Morris' E.J. Barrett, who caused quit a stir this spring, will return for the NCIS Season 9 premiere. Will she stick around the agency beyond September 22?
"There's a new wrinkle in [Tony and E.J.'s] relationship, and I would say it is somewhat troubling," says Michael Weatherly (Tony), in an interview with TV Guide.
"I think Tony questions a lot of things about her," the actors says. "And I don't think there's any going back to their initial blinky-blinky, lovey-dovey plot."
That doesn't necessarily guarantee major Tony-Ziva developments, though.
"Tony ultimately has to lean on himself. He has to figure some of his own stuff out," Weatherly says, adding, in open-ended fashion, that this "might make him more able down the road to approach a relationship with Ziva."
Please tell me E.J. Barrett's NCIS return will be short-lived. I need Tiva! — Hanna
ADAM: Let's let Michael Weatherly offer his take. "There's a new wrinkle in [Tony and E.J.'s] relationship, and I would say it is somewhat troubling," he says. But before your little 'shipper heart explodes, that doesn't necessarily guarantee loads of Tony-Ziva goodness. "Tony ultimately has to lean on himself. He has to figure some of his own stuff out," Weatherly says. "That might make him more able down the road to approach a relationship with Ziva."

'NCIS' scoop: Ducky's new galpal is...
An alum of Charlie’s Angels will show up on TV this fall but don’t go looking for her on ABC’s reboot of the successful franchise. NCIS snagged the celestial being, instead!
EW has learned exclusively that Cheryl Ladd — best known for playing Kris Munroe from ’77 to ’81 on Angels — will guest star as Ducky’s (David McCallum) love interest on the CBS drama that returns for its ninth season on Sept. 20. Her cameo will occur in late October.
Here’s what Executive Producer Gary Glasberg had to say about Ladd: “She is a delight to work with and everything we could have hoped for as Ducky’s love interest. She’s adding all kinds of dimension to a very fun role.”

NCIS Exclusive First Look: Tony and EJ's Explosive Reunion!
In the season premiere of CBS’ NCIS (airing Tuesday, Sept. 20, at 8/7c), Tony appears to have set his sights anew on EJ Barrett — just as someone else sets their gun sights on them. And TVLine has a pair of exclusive photos from the couple’s, um, intense reunion.
To recap how Season 8 left off: In the wake of the Port-to-Port Killer’s reign of terror, EJ (played by Sarah Jane Morris) left her post at NCIS — but not before stealthily extracting a microchip from the arm of one of her dead teammates. As the finale wrapped, the new SECNAV handed Tony (Michael Weatherly) a classified assignment, to take down an agent who is selling top-secret information. Judging by Tony’s reaction to the photo, the target is somebody he knows. Hmmm. Who here took math…? Or do “EJ” plus “mole” not add up to “mystery solved”?
“EJ taking the microchip significantly changed her relationship with Tony,” NCIS executive producer Gary Glasberg tells us. “From a storytelling perspective, the change was phenomenal, and added all kinds of complexity to their interaction.”
Speaking of complicated interactions, check out these pics of Tony meeting up with EJ — and how sparks start literally flying soon afterward! — upon the return of TV’s most watched scripted series.

It'll be nice to see Jamie Lee Curtis in something other than those yogurt commercials. She's a lovely actress, but I really could NOT be less interested in the regularity of her digestive system.

NCIS Exclusive: Get Ready to Meet Another of Gibbs' Ex-Wives!
NCIS' Leroy Jethro Gibbs is a man of few words and many wives. And this November, viewers are going to meet another former Mrs. Gibbs, TVGuide.com has learned exclusively.
Mad Men mistress Melinda McGraw has been cast as Diane, one of the three (redheaded) women Gibbs (Mark Harmon) married after his first wife was killed. Fans of the show will recall that after Diane split from Gibbs, she also married his friend and colleague, FBI Agent Tobias Fornell (Joe Spano), who will also return for the episode.
Although Fornell had a daughter with Diane, both men have not-so-fond memories of her. (She cleaned out both of their bank accounts after their respective divorces.) Diane comes back into the men's lives when her latest husband gets tangled up in a joint NCIS-FBI investigation. Fittingly, the episode is titled "Devil's Triangle."
"Imagine being the ex-wife of both Gibbs and FBI Agent Fornell," executive producer Gary Glasberg tells TVGuide.com "Melinda McGraw brings enormous heart, humor, bite and edge to a character we've known about for years, but haven't spent much time with. This is gonna be fun!"
McGraw, who has appeared on such shows as Desperate Housewives, The West Wing and The X-Files, notably portrayed Bobbie Barrett, one of Don Draper's mistresses in Mad Men's second season. She also recently recurred in the second season of TNT's Men of a Certain Age as a love interest of Scott Bakula's Terry.
McGraw's episode is slated to air in early November. NCIS airs Tuesdays at 8/7c on CBS.

NCIS: Meet Abby's Brother!
Who is the real Abby Scuitto? We're about to find out when her brother comes to town.
After Abby volunteers to donate a kidney on Tuesday's NCIS, she learns a few shocking family secrets. "It affects Abby in a huge way," Pauley Perrette tells TVGuide.com."It's a very, very big deal, and it will absolutely impact her for the rest of her life."
Abby's brother, Kyle Davis, is played by Daniel Louis Rivas, who is actually Perrette's ex-boyfriend. "I've been saying for years, ever since they mentioned Abby had a brother, that I know the actor that has to play it," Perrette says. "He was my boyfriend years ago, and we look so much alike. He has my same crazy eyes. People always thought that we were brother and sister. ... So, I started putting it on Twitter, and my followers started a huge Twitter campaign. And it worked!"
That's not the episode's only real-life connection. The episode also features a locket that Abby carries with her. The woman pictured inside the locket is Perrette's mom, who died in 2002. Also like her character, Perrette is an advocate for many charitable causes (she's currently raising money for an annual AIDS Walk).
So will it be another eight seasons before the show digs into Abby's backstory again? Executive producer Gary Glasberg says he's unsure if Abby's brother will make any return appearances, but he does suggest that the emotions this episode brings to the fore will likely be revisited later in the season. "A new world has opened up for her, and I hope that we'll have additional opportunity to help her figure that out," he says.

Jaime Ray Newman Books Two-Episode Arc on NCIS
Jaime Ray Newman, who played Mac's wife on CSI: NY, is now headed to NCIS.
The actress, also familiar from Eureka and Eastwick, will appear on a major November sweeps arc as Melanie Burke, a Navy Lieutenant Commander who is a chaplain at the Navy Yard.
The first of Newman’s two episodes airs November 8, when Burke meets the NCIS team and starts to work closely with their investigation of a military plane crash, according to TV Line.
Melinda McGraw is also coming to the hit procedural this November as Gibbs' former wife Diane.
Meanwhile, Jamie Lee Curtis' forthcoming story arc has reportedly been pushed back until spring.

NCIS Boss, Mark Harmon Tout 'Heart-Wrenching' Two-Parter That Reveals More Of Gibbs' Past
As November sweeps rolls on, CBS’ NCIS next Tuesday at 8/7c will kick off a two-week arc that involves the crash of military plane that was carrying caskets filled with the remains of felled Marines. When the case takes a curious twist, it will prompt Gibbs (played by Mark Harmon) to flash back to his days as a young Marine.
“There’s a huge crime scene, and an investigation takes part in trying to identify those remains — with in some cases the remains not being what they were supposed to be,” Harmon told TVLine during a conference call to promote his USA Network movie, Certain Prey (airing this Sunday at 9/8c). “The case kind of births with that, and forces Gibbs to remember a couple of things from his past that connect him toward this current [mystery].”
Says NCIS showrunner Gary Glasberg, “We’re very proud of ‘Engaged,’ Parts 1 and 2 because of the complex, heart-wrenching story they tell, our attempt to depict and honor the bravery of the Marine Corps, and the insight viewers will gain about Gibbs and his early days in the military.”
As Harmon points out, the ongoing opportunity to revisit characters’ pasts is what helps keep NCIS fresh, even nine seasons in. “So much of what we do — and certainly when we do the flashback stuff — is meant to give more definition to the characters,” the actor says, “and answer some of the questions people have.”
Once again playing the younger Gibbs in flashback is Harmon’s real-life son. “It was especially fun bringing back Sean Harmon,” says Glasberg. “He shares a certain sparkle in his eyes that must be in the Harmon blood.”
All told, Glasberg reports, “Everyone involved brought their ‘A’ game to this two-episode arc and we hope people enjoy it…. This storyline had us globe hopping from Afghanistan to Arlington Cemetery. Consider it a tribute to our brave men and women overseas who put their lives on the line every day.”
Looking further ahead, NCIS will close out sweeps by shedding another bit of light on a different agent, thanks to an encore by a familiar face. “[After the two-parter] is the return of Robert Wagner, as DiNozzo’s dad,” Harmon says. “And we all look forward to that.”
