No guarantees, my French is a bit rusty:

NCIS
Cote de Pablo and Michael Weatherly

"Ziva and Tony? It's a love-hate relationship"

Attention, (exclusive?) interview! We met Cote de Pablo and Michael Weatherly at the Monte Carlo Film Festival where they were free to answer our questions about the evolution of their love relationship on NCIS.

Are you both coming back to season 8 of NCIS when filming resumes?

MW: It's Cote who's negotiating my contract with her team of experts. My future is in her hands. Maybe that wasn't such a good idea on my part...
CdP: He's coming back, you can be sure of that...
MW: It's just as complicated as those particle accelerators. You think you've understood it when actually...
CdP (interrupts him): You need to interrupt him when he starts to talk nonsense!

How do you explain the success of your show?

CdP: I think it's because our characters are so well defined.
MW: Just like my pectorals.
CdP: I wouldn't wanna have to play DiNozzo and Michael couldn't play my character.
MW: I could play your character with my eyes closed.
CdP: The people love the relationships between the characters, the humor of the show, the latent sexual tension.

Your show is the number one crime experts* show in the US... (*note: in France, CIS is called "Les Experts")

MW: They added an N to the show CSI and then jumbled the other three letters to get "NCIS" out of that!
CdP: Thank you very much, Michael, for this interesting definition. I think that you can understand what Ziva sometimes feels towards DiNozzo on the show.

You know that the show is also very successful in France?

MW: That is surely due to the actors who dub our voices! Okay, I'll be serious: I think the show is better understood abroad then it is in the States. At the beginning, the previews for the show were very serious and dramatic in the US, whereas in Europe they focused more on the humor. What's more, the show has a certain international touch. Sean Murray (who plays McGee) is Australian and I am clearly from Mars.
CdP: Clearly!

This year a new show "NCIS: Los Angeles" has started, starring LL Cool J. Do you talk to him a lot?

CdP: LL Cool J is the coolest guy on the planet.
MW: His name is totally appropriate.
CdP: Have you met him already?
MW: Yes. At least I've waived to him across the police barriers and I saw him look at me.

Do you think that Ziva and Tony are in love and will end up together?

CdP: It's a love-hate relationship.
MW: Like Han Solo and Princess Leia in Star Wars. They bicker all the time but they love each other. Ziva and Tony might get together in a galaxy far, far away...

Cote, you have a very physical role. Do you need special preparation?

CdP: I go through all the fight sequences with the stuntmen.
MW: You were even almost crushed by a truck in season 7.
CdP: That wasn't fun. A huge truck barely missed me and I didn't have a stunt double. I had to stand still but I started running as fast as I could and my reaction of panic in this episode wasn't acting.

I have a question for you, Michael, since your character is a fan of the seventh art. What movie is the quote "We are gonna need a bigger boat" taken from?

MW: Indiana Jones?

No, this is a Steven Spielberg movie with a shark...

MW: That's it, I've got it: "Jaws". What did I win?

Owen-TV: Talking with 'NCIS' stars Cote de Pablo, Mark Harmon
By ROB OWEN, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

LOS ANGELES - No matter what your job, accidents happen, even for actors on TV shows. Sometimes the perceived glamour of fame gives way to the reality that when you're on an action-adventure show, fake fighting can sometimes hurt.

Cote de Pablo, one of the stars of CBS's top-rated drama series "NCIS" (8 p.m. EDT Tuesday), has learned that in her role as tough Ziva David.

"Most of the bigger fight sequences I have, and I'm the girl," she said in a January interview. "I take that as such a compliment. This character is a tough, tough cookie."

De Pablo's no slouch, either. In a scene a couple of seasons back, Ziva had to deflect a rifle coming at her, pushing it away with her hand.

"Instead of pushing it to the side, I got a little jumbled up in the adrenaline and the fire of it all and I pushed the butt of the rifle up and into my mouth and popped my lip," she recalled. It was a real rifle so the impact caused her lip to swell and bleed. "This is the masochistic method actor in you: I stopped and said, 'I got hurt,' and after they cleaned me up, I looked at the director and said, 'Roll, baby, roll.' My adrenaline was going and I wanted to use that."

De Pablo joined the cast of "NCIS" in the show's third season after the departure of Sasha Alexander (now on TNT's "Rizzoli & Isles"). "NCIS" star Mark Harmon said the arrival of de Pablo and her character took other characters and relationships on the show "in a whole other direction.

"It certainly took DiNozzo in a different direction because of the way their relationship evolved," he said, speaking of Tony DiNozzo, the character played by Michael Weatherly. The sparks between Tony and Ziva have even led fans to coin the nickname "Tiva" for a romantic relationship between the pair that some fans hope will develop.

But playing that relationship is a delicate dance for the show's writers.

"We had a couple of big seasons of Tiva and we took it to a point that those who loved Tiva were screaming at us and those who had seen enough of Tiva were going, 'Oh, thank God,' " said "NCIS" executive producer Shane Brennan at a CBS party last month. In an episode that aired earlier this year, Tony and Ziva shared a hotel room and may or may not have taken their relationship to a new level of intimacy.

"We didn't give a definitive answer, but I'm sure people have an answer of their own. When this show finally runs its course, I'd love to be able to say to every fan that's ever watched that we will answer everything. I don't like to leave unanswered questions. I'm not saying we'll answer it this season because this show has a lot of years left in it."

The relationship among team leader Gibbs (Harmon), Ziva and Tony is very much like a father and two unruly children, and some of that paternal care carries over off-screen as well.

But that might change in the season ahead. Although most of the cast recently signed new deals, contracts for Harmon and de Pablo are up at the end of the 2010-11 TV season.

"It's a decision Mark will make," Brennan said last month. "It'll be eight years and that's a long time. Mark is one of, if not the finest television actor I've ever worked with. He loves what he does and it is a family up there, so I'm sure it will be a hard decision for him to make. He is very much the father figure in the same way Gibbs is the father figure of the group. Obviously, we hope he stays with the show, but that's a question I guess people at the studio and the network will (deal with) over the course of the season."

When the show returns for its eighth season on Sept. 21, May's cliffhanger -- Gibbs' father (Ralph Waite) was being held by a Mexican drug-cartel leader -- will be quickly resolved.

"What you'll see this season is we're going to dig back in to discover how the characters came to join NCIS," Brennan said. "We will be doing some origins episodes. I'm sure everyone would love to find out how Abby (Pauley Perrette) came to be, how DiNozzo came to be (on the team). I'm not saying it will necessarily be those (characters), but we will certainly be doing some of that."

In addition, actor Robert Wagner will return as DiNozzo's father.

"It's really exciting because here we are in season eight and we are confronting a show that is the No. 1 scripted drama," Brennan said, "and we are determined to maintain that."

I'm not quite sure if this is the right place to put it, but NCIS made an appearance in this year's Emmy Awards' tribute to "The Year In Drama"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5URuhm9g6CQ

I guess being the Number One scripted drama on TV really does have its perks. The Emmys normally seems to ignore shows like NCIS, but I guess this time they had to give it its rightfully earned feature spot in the drama tribute.

Exclusive VIDEO: The Fact Checkers Unit stalks NCIS star Pauley Perrette

Is NCIS actress Pauley Perrette a natural blonde? Finding out sounds like a mission for the FCU: Fact Checkers Unit.

The heroes of the NBC Web Series, fact-checking specialists Dylan (Brian Sacca) and Russell (Peter Karinen), have already confirmed Jon Heder's secret side career and Karolina Kurkova's SPF preference.

Perrette's true hair color comes up for debate in the upcoming episode because, as Karinen tells TVGuide.com, "our producer told her that our Web series was going to be a huge stepping stone for her career. Thankfully and surprisingly, she believed him." Sacca adds that he, and fellow series creators Karinen and Dan Beers, have wanted to work with the actress "ever since her two-episode arc on 'Frasier.' I love 'Frasier.'"

Her NCIS character, Abby, also happens to have a lot in common with the fact checkers, Beers says: "Abby is a goth; Dylan and Russell wear black. Abby has a stuffed hippo named Bert that makes flatulence noises when squeezed; when Dylan farts in the office, Russell charges him like a rhino."

But seriously, Perrette says she's been eager to appear in Fact Checkers Unit ever since she watched the original short, which featured Bill Murray.

The world, she says, could use more real-life fact checkers. "There are so many false stories, eventually you just kind of give up, especially with the Internet," Perrette says. "I am almost convinced that the only two things that are true on the Internet are the time and the date."

Up Close with 'NCIS' Star Brian Dietzen by Allison Waldman, posted Oct 5th 2010 1:00PM

Brian Dietzen, NCIS Playing the quizzical sidekick Jimmy Palmer, assistant to the medical examiner on 'NCIS,' actor Brian Dietzen thinks he's a pretty lucky guy. He's not only on America's most watched drama series, but as an actor he gets to play opposite the inimitable David McCallum. Dietzen spoke with TV Squad recently about the new season, working on a hit series and the possibility of a musical 'NCIS' episode in the future ... yes, really.

How do you see the character of Jimmy Palmer? Everybody has to start somewhere and Jimmy's definitely in the process of paying his dues. I do believe that this is something that he wants to do with his life. I talked to Craig Harvey, the medical examiner for L.A. who's a consultant on the show, and he said that 10-15 years ago people who came in and said they wanted to be medical examiners were tossed out because everyone thought they were crazy. Who'd want to work with dead bodies all day? But now it's become a competitive field.

Is that how it is for Jimmy? People are interested in becoming post-mortem detectives and I think that's what Jimmy wants. What we're seeing right now is a young guy trying to figure it all out. He's somebody who often asks the impossibly obvious question, but they're things that need to be answered and he's not afraid to ask them. Practically speaking, he gives the audience a voice. Jimmy is trying to put in his two cents more and more over the seasons. He's getting more involved in solving the cases, as opposed to just pushing gurneys and hauling dead bodies.

Do you enjoy the role? It's a blast. I get to do some of the most fun stuff in all of 'NCIS' in my opinion. Although I'm not usually speaking the most lines in any scene, I get some of the juiciest bits. I'm very thankful that I get to play him. And I'm playing opposite David McCallum, one of the best scene partners in the business.

What's it like working with him? David is more than famous on our set for being extremely meticulous about his research and preparation for every scene. Which is great for me because most of my scenes are with him. Prior to most scenes, we get to go in and rehearse just the two of us, and go over what it is we're going to do and how they're going to work out, the blocking, the wording. And [he] researches so much of the technical jargon and medical lingo that he makes sure to double and triple check everything that the writers give to us. If anything can be fleshed out a little more, we can go to them with changes. The guy is a machine. It's pretty cool having David to work with and it's been awesome to work alongside him.

When Jimmy was involved with Agent Lee (Liza Lapira), were you surprised by how indiscreet he was, fooling around on the job and in the lab? Oh yes, incredibly so. Jimmy was really sloppy about things. But, of course, the guy wanted to date and have a relationship of some sort. It was born out of the thought that these people are government employees, working 16-17 hours a day with absolutely no time off at all, so the only logical conclusion is dating someone that they work with. The writers had some fun with it. That was Don Bellisario's idea. He wanted someone to have an office romance where, literally, everything happened in the office. It was more of a lark at first and we then didn't see her for a year. Then she came back and she turned out to be a double agent!

Do you prefer the field scenes to the lab scenes? No, I really treasure the autopsy scenes between David and I. That's where some of our most fun scenes happen. We get to rehearse quite a bit and we exchange wonderful ideas. So between the two of us, we treasure that stuff. Going out in the field has been fun also, and it's given room for growth with other characters. I value both the studio and location shoots. The Jimmy and Ducky stuff has always been a fun, fun part of the show and kind of a staple.

What do you think of 'NCIS's'' popularity'? If you look at our numbers lately, we're skewing younger and I think a lot of that has to do with the syndication and the show airing on USA Network. When that started happening, college folks started watching because it was on all the time, and they started to fall in love with the fact that this was not your ordinary procedural. It was a show where people were having fun while doing all these things. I guess you can say we have the most overall viewers of any show in the United States -- and a couple of other countries as well -- and the fact that it's not just the 18-49 audience, that doesn't bother me in the slightest. We're doing pretty well in that demo and the others as well. I think eyeballs are eyeballs and popularity is popularity. We're definitely not hurting. We're just a very solid show.

How do fans react to your character? The loyalty to these characters is just great. People will write in and talk about Jimmy and how they relate to him. Jimmy reacts to crime scenes the way a lot of people think they'd react. He's not a steel-jawed Gibbs, and he doesn't have the track record of Ducky. Jimmy comes off as a real person and I think that's one thing that's really helped me with this character. It's the knowledge that we're not all grizzled veterans of crime scenes.

Is it true that there could there be a musical episode of the show? Co-executive producer Reed Steiner brought up the possibility of an 'NCIS' musical episode. We do have a lot of musical experience on the show, we have some really talented musicians, Cote de Pablo sang on Broadway, David was raised by musicians ... I think it would be awesome. But by the same token, Fox has put 'Glee' up against us, so I'm not sure if it would look like we're trying to keep up with them. What I would want to see is Mark Harmon belting 'Oklahoma.'

You auditioned for a one-day role and seven years later, you're still on the show; how do you react to that? You say, 'thank you.' You are grateful and you do what you can with every scene that you get. I get a lot of advice from Mark Harmon and I take it all to heart because I respect the heck out of him.

What kind of advice has Harmon given you? He's always said that you should take each scene, do everything you can with it, because the show is all about moments. People will forget story lines here and there, they'll forget certain cases, but there are moments in every TV show that stand out to them with a line or a look or a short conversation between two characters, but that will stick with people for years. He says it's our job to dig those out and do them to the best of our ability. So when you get something, even if it's only one line, make a meal out of it. I've taken that to heart and it's really served me well.

Where do you see yourself five years from now? I think I'm probably still working out here in L.A. It may be feature stuff, it may be television, but you find what it is you love and you figure out a way to get paid for it. That's what my dad always said. If you're very lucky, it'll work out. I love what it is I do and I realize how blessed I am. So now it's just about doing the work as good as possible and enjoying the ride. I think five years from now; I'll still be enjoying the ride.

Rocky Carroll: ‘NCIS’ Will Soon Spill More Of Vance’s Secrets
by Matt Webb Mitovich
Oct 11th, 2010 | 8:06 PM

To hear Rocky Carroll tell it, CBS’ ‘NCIS‘ (Tuesdays at 8/7c) has only scratched the surface when it comes to sharing what you need to know about Director Leon Vance. The good news is that a significant intel download is coming your way, with thanks to the return of a major guest star. Carroll spoke with Fancast about the NCIS team’s performance against some new, singing-and-dancing foes, the big reveal on the horizon, and why retaining a little mystery in NCISland is never a bad thing.
