to give people who probably don't have electricity a laptop. She didn't give them a power cable either, so it's okay. "Here's a laptop. You use it for three hours, then throw it away! That's the American way tm!"

If she was that germophobic, then why did she touch her brother's hand at the end?

Tony's done that circling thing before. He's definitely done it to McGee, but in general, it bugs the person he's questioning. At least, that's my take on it. I agree. Anything you can do to mess with their mind is always a good technique. And we all know that Tony has a special talent for that.

I wonder if she realised that. As they say , hospitals are no place for sick people..

Absolutely, a lot of deaths in hospitals are caused by staph infections, which are caught in said hospital.

I really feel like they are trying to sneak in Nikki as a new regular for next season, like they are hoping we won't notice. I definitely get the feeling that there is something that we missed out on due to the writers' strike, like they picked up later than where they left off. The conversation where McGee refers to Toothpick Man as the acting director and Ziva (was it Ziva or Abby?) corrects him and says assistant director. (Was anyone else having a Dwight Schrute flashback there or was it only me? ) Anyway, I could like Nikki a lot but the germaphobe thing is being way overdone. She sees a picture of McGee being licked by his man-eating dog and needs to wash her hands? Come on, that's a bit extreme for someone who is supposedly able to function on a normal level. Plus, if she washes her hands every time she sees something gross, they should be seriously chapped by now and they aren't. The other thing is, of course, is the fact that it's totally inconsistent. She freaked out when Tony wanted to high-five her but she had no problem hugging the Iraqi girl. And if the state of the plumbing is anything to go by, Tony had probably bathed a lot more recently. (I did think it was smart of her to take baby wipes though.) And it's already been pointed out that hospitals are basically gross hotbeds of disease, yet she didn't seem the least bit uncomfortable there. So if they ease up on the whole "Look! She's a Germaphobe!" angle with Nikki8, which I am already sick to death of - and it's been what, three or four episodes? - then I have no problem with Nikki as a recurring character. But don't try and just slide her in as a replacement for someone we've already gotten attached to (even if it's just Paula or Agent Lee). That's really more of a character issue, though, and not an episode complaint. I really did like 'In The Zone.'

She could be using lotion with it. Or maybe her hands just got used to it. When I worked on ICU we used hand sanitizer and washed our hands every chance we got because there was a MRSA (staph) outbreak. At the beginning my hands chapped, but towards the end they didn't because they got used to it. (And we were anal, probably using it more often than Nikki does)
I agree though, it felt like they were trying to sneak her in as a replacement and I don't like the prospect at all.
This ep was okay, but I felt like it was the weakest of the four we've had so far. It felt more like JAG than NCIS - and although I liked JAG, NCIS is not JAG. Why send the team to Baghdad at all? Aren't their NCIS agents closer who could have done the inquiry?
And I didn't like the implication that just because McGee doesn't volunteer, that's reason for the Director to be disappointed. Since when does that mean you aren't motivated? Some leaders seem to prefer the people who don't step forward and fall all over themselves and let their record stand for itself. (Plus the way he was made to look bad was disappointing)
There were some good spots and the ep definitely wasn't as depressing as the promo made it appear. The barking keyboard (I want one!) and the Gibbs/Ziva/Real Estate jerk scene with the ball were great. But it's not one of my favorites.

i thought it was a good episode .... and i thought nikki was a good character ...... but she's run her course, it's time to retire her. i don't think her team dynamic is good enough to become a regular
other comments:
- the keyboard thing was pretty funny - the first half of this episode almost was downtime team interaction, which i liked .... it was very refreshing - the little competiton between jardine and ziva was also kinda cute - i really liked tony in this episode ... he did good - yeah the laptop thing was kinda dumb but it was sweet too
all in all a nice episode

Here I go again going against the grain. I like Nikki. I liked her working with Tony. They make a good team (for the 'shippers, I'm not talking romantically). I have no problem with Nikki joining the team. Remember folks, someone is going to die and if it's one of the team, she may be the new Probie, or Gibbs could just be getting a 4th team member. Guess I don't get the heavy dislike against the majority of women (Abby and Ziva/ Kate the exception) on NCIS.Perhaps the germ-phobic thing is so she won't carry anything in to the hospital since her brother's immune system has to be weakened.

I liked the premise of an NCIS agent going to Iraq, but, this episode was rushed and had too much Nikki in it and not enough of the series regulars to me. I don't like the idea of Nikki being a series regular next season. I think that the show named NCIS will be back next week given the previews that I saw. I liked and miss Paula. Fast National ratings for Tuesday, April 29, 2008 CBS was a solid second with "NCIS," 9.3/15. Here's the link, www.zap2it.com/tv/ratings/zap-ratings042908,0,2712206.story

I didn't think this was a brilliant episode, but I enjoyed it. Nice character interaction, and it was interesting to see some of them out of the usual setting, although I prefer seeing the whole team together. Like most people, I'm hoping Nikki doesn't become a regular character I don't mind her, but I prefer her in small doses. Actually, speaking of recurring characters, where's Agent Lee gone?! I liked her! Perhaps the germ-phobic thing is so she won't carry anything in to the hospital since her brother's immune system has to be weakened. That's a good idea! It would be good if this was the case, it would give a bit more depth to her, rather than just seeming like they tried to think of a random character quirk to give her. I think the back story with her brother was quite interesting & the ending was pretty sad. So, overall, a good enough episode but not one I'd watch again.

Some leaders seem to prefer the people who don't step forward and fall all over themselves and let their record stand for itself. (Plus the way he was made to look bad was disappointing) That's how it is in the real world, [it's a competition. Especially in a field like NCIS. You need to get noticed, you need to step up if you want to go anywhere in your career. Except not all promotions are like that, which makes it a catch-22. I sincerely doubt Gibbs applied to be a team leader when he transferred to D.C., because he doesn't seek out management positions. Higher-ups noticed his record and put him in that position. Also Leon's comment "disappointed" rankled with me, because he should know that in law enforcement, not everyone is thinking about a career in terms of advancement. Some cops and agents do, but others prefer to stay in the field/on the street because that's where they know they can make the most difference and be the most fulfilled. Tony turned down the promotion to Rota which he knew would be a good move and Jen said she was proud of him. Based on the scene with Leon this time around I'm assuming he'd probably have been disappointed - at least, that's what he made it sound like. On Nikki touching her brother - I can take a small guess at what happened. I went through a brief (thankfully) phase like that where I was paranoid of getting sick (just stomach viruses, not everything like she seems to be) and I remember I would wash my hands frequently and try not to touch my face while in public, but if I was only with family and I knew they hadn't been sick or I hadn't heard they were with someone who was sick, I'd let down my guard more. She might have figured it was okay to touch her brother, but not a coworker or something because she'd know in theory if her brother was sick, but you can't be sure what anyone has had that touched stuff at work.
