Well this ep was well worth the wait (although I think that a 3 week break mid-season is unacceptable!!). Thoroughly enjoyable - and although everyone had great lines and we got to see the 'team' at work- Tony was the star. Liked the continuity of Pacci from the previous ep. Thought MH played Gibbs reaction to Pacci's death just right. Just the right amount of angst. (My only query however is who did Pacci report to? If Gibbs is the head of his team, who was the head of Pacci's?) Abby was great - especially her scene in the lift Loved Ducky's assistant's reaction to Ducky talking to the corpse. Miss Gerald though. Is he coming back? McGee was great. He plays off Tony so well. As much as I like the idea of him replacing Kate, I'm sure if he was in the series every week, then he would get boring. I think his appearance every 4 or 5 eps or so is just right. I enjoyed Tony teasing Kate - especially him using the mike to eavesdrop on her conversation on the mobile. Such a cheeky boy. Can't sing enough praise of MW during this ep. He was brilliant. He obviously loves to play the role of the practical joker. And so many Logan moments!! Sigh My gripe of the week? Like everyone else I have 2. - Kate's treatment of Tony at the end - Jamie Luner passing as a gender bender It was unfortunate that Kate persisted in teasing Tony right at the end of the ep. Like someone posted earlier - Abby knew when to stop, Kate just proceeded to be nasty for the sake of it. Thought maybe it would have been nice if Kate started to ask the question but then stop and change the subject when seeing how humiliated Tony was feeling. The casting of Jamie Luner as Voss was just not believable. Way too feminine. I'm no expert, but I have met/known a few people that have 'crossed over' and the crossover is never that perfect. I guess its a difficult storyline in that the writers wanted Tony to get up close and personal with the suspect (so they couldn't make her too masculine or boyish). .

On another note I enjoyed the Tony/Gibbs interactions in the episode - we haven't had them for a while. I love the dynamic between the two characters. Gibbs brings Tony down to earth while making use of his talents and Tony keeps Gibbs from getting too grim. I've missed that. It was good to see it again. And then you have Gibbs-Tony - McGee. It's funny to see how Tony takes it from Gibbs and turns around and passes it down to McGee. And Mcgee looks up to Tony, who in turn looks up to Gibbs. That is a fun dynamic I'd love to see more of. yes - tony/gibbs are my faves and together they are wonderful. missed seeing tony get a slap on the back of the head in this ep, tho. of course, i was thinking gibbs would have loved to have done it when he called and mcgee got the phone and had to tell him he was with the suspect. as i watched tony with mcgee i thought how much like gibbs tony sounded. i don't even think he really realizes he's doing it. i mean, he knows he's harrassing [sp?] mcgee, but i don't know if he realizes he sounds like gibbs. too funny!

I have one word to say... ok, 3 actually - OMG! It was worth waiting for! I think this has to be one of my top favorite eps now! It was just too damn funny! Tony: Ohh, no no...don't put your shirt on... it's hot... I have to go and watch it one more time, to leave somewhat more logic review...

Loved it when Gibbs made it perfectly clear that he knew who had done the real research into finding the red-haired woman in the photos. McGee is a real treasure.

Didn't think this was a good Tony episode at all. He came across as petty, having hot-to-trot-hormones towards a murder suspect and at the end it was obvious he likes to dish it out but can't take it when everything backfires on him. He needs a better writer.

Didn't think this was a good Tony episode at all. He came across as petty, having hot-to-trot-hormones towards a murder suspect and at the end it was obvious he likes to dish it out but can't take it when everything backfires on him. He needs a better writer. I thought this episode was a very good episode for Tony. We got to see different sides of him. We know he has a weakness for women. That had been pounded into us since episode one. That doesn't make him a bad agent. Amanda Reid wasn't a murder suspect when Tony made contact with her. She was a material witness and he shouldn't have approached her. He knew he was doing something he shouldn't. He's impulsive about women. It's a fault he needs to work on. I don't see any pettiness in his character. I see a lot of playfulness and that's what gets him in trouble. He's dead serious when he needs to be. His playfulness lightens up Gibbs, who would be a total ogre to work for if it weren't for Tony (imo). I love him with Gibbs and McGee. He's also a secret softy. You just have to look at the way he tried to make up to McGee when McGee was embarrassed by telling Tony he liked to write. As for Tony not being able to take what he dishes out. I don't agee with that either. He can take it pretty well. Just look at the end of OSOK, and episodes where Abby teases him. The problem isn't with Tony it's with Kate. Her comments to Tony at the end of the episode were totally snarky and mean. Tony was down and humiliated. Abby knew when to stop, but Kate had to be a SWEETIE and hit him when he was down. Tony has never hit Kate when she was down. He's been sympathetic to her in every instance. He teases her unmercifully, but he's never mean about it. Of course this is totally my opinion which may be colored because I totally Tony.

You won't find many here that will agree with you, GolliGirl. This episode is my 2nd favorite, The iguana takes first place.
This site was started for one reason only. Michael Weatherly. We would follow him anywhere.
It's proof of our growth that we've accepted and come to admire Mark Harmon, David McCallum and Pauley Perrette. They sneaked into our hearts before we could stop them. There's hope for Sasha Alexander. Maybe.

That episode was sooo good!
First of all, although after the last episode I was afraid Pacci would end up dead before he could talk to Gibbs I thought the file was related to the terrorist - and I certainly didn't think he was going to be the NCIS agent referred to in the spoilers for this episode. What's really strange is I remember thinking 'First time they're referring to another agent multiple times, something has to be up' after unSEALed and I still never made the connection. Guess I wouldn't make a very observant NCIS agent. Incidentally, was Pacci played by Tim Kelleher? I've seen his name on three episodes as a guest star and I've been trying to figure out who else we've seen that often.
And it was great to see McGee again. I really like that guy. It's cool he's a mystery writer - I hope they elaborate on that. And the way he found the address was pretty neat - although I can't figure out how he can recognize tree bark! Oh and that scene between him and Tony when Tony walks in to see Gibbs on the phone was hilarious!
Ducky: Loved seeing how supportive he was of Gibbs. A neat bonding we haven't seen much of.
Kate: Didn't find her out of line at the end, I found it actually quite funny because Tony is such a flert and he soooo paid for that this time!
Abby: I loved the whole scene between her and McGee with 'In the world according to Gibbs' and the 'Gibbs is like Santa Claus'.
Tony: I'm sorry, Tartlets, but it was so time he got in trouble for his flirting! All season he's been just asking for a fall but I never expected it to be that bad! I could not quit laughing as he and the guy/girl were kissing in the booth, knowing what we did. Incidentally, I'm sorry, but that...bad guy was a serious whack-job to quote Gibbs. The whole thing with slicing up Pacci - serious sicko. It was also nice to see him grieving for a change - usually he never appears to be bothered by anything. And it was so sweet his little, "No, no phone calls, boss."
And Gibbs: WOW! First of all, Gibblets, anyone catch the terrific butt shot in the apartment as he was walking toward the window in the evening? Wow! And he also looked pretty gorgeous in both that icy blue dress shirt and of course the suit! And can MH ever act! He broke my heart SOOOO many times on this one. The way he was unable to look at the body in autopsy - usually he's scrutinizing it. The way he sounded (and looked) like he was about to cry as he said, "Pacci knew he was dying. And he knew you'd do the autopsy. He wanted you to find this. Dead man talking, Duck." The conversation with Ducky by the elevator at the beginning, "This isn't your fault Jethro"/"It feels like it is, Ducky." And that sweet little pat on the back he gave Abby. Oh, and how can I forget at the end. "His name was Special Agent Chris Pacci. And he was a friend." Again looking like he was on the verge of tears.
Someone please give MH an Emmy!

Two more things, after seeing Gibbs drive on this episode I think I figured out why 2 of his ex's hit him over the head. The man is a maniac! And I also finally understood the exchange on One Shot One Kill.
(after hearing Kate give Tony grief about how fast he was driving) Gibbs: Brings back memories. Kate: Of what. Gibbs: Marriage.
Obviously he was remembering his wives giving him crap for his driving!
And my aunt spotted something on this one that she thought might be related to the finale. Gibbs said Pacci left his weapon behind because he was tailing someone. Do you think Gibbs is going to leave his weapon behind while tailing the terrorist on the season finale? I'm sure Gibbs is smarter than that and too determined to shoot him for that to happen but then again this is the man who never wears a bullet-proof vest.

Sorry, I just love to see Kate and Tony argue, so I saw no flaw with the regular characters this episode, though at first I was afraid it was going to take itself too seriously.
As for Jamie Luner...way bad casting mistake! Not only did I recognizer her from "Profiler" but a show she did even earlier. To undergo hormone therapy for gender change surgery the person MUST undergo heavy psychiatric evaluation. Voss would never have passed that stage...cold blooded killers rarely do!

for some reason I can't post in the ep 20 thread, it says the topic is locked (but i don't see the lock icon next to it -weird) But that's just as well, cause my frelling isp decided THIS ncis day is the one to cut my services for repairs. I'm looking at the reviews and i'm going nuts.

dont you think it was kinda illegal for him to shoot a suspect point blank between the eyes in front of other agents and a bar full of civilians?

Hey spoonieluv247! Welcome!
I don't know if you taped the ep... you might want to go back and watch the last scene very carefully if you did. She was armed and she raised her weapon, or attempted to, and Gibbs shot theoretically in self defense. I believe Kate even says something like she/he must have known she had no chance. Kate was referring to raising the gun in an attempt to shoot.

still, she had then lowered it, and he then delivers his speech. in the real world that would lead to an investigation at least and prob more. but he'll always be the prince of bel aire to me! or the teacher in summer school!
