It's Challenge Time!! Challenge #15 is here and it should be an interesting one this week, writers.
Opening Line The siren blared continuously
Closing Line "This weapon hasn't been fired."
Please note the use of quotation marks, or lack thereof, for both lines.
If you have any questions, feel free to direct them to myself or any of the Mods. I'm happy to help. ;D
For any of you newbies out there, jump right in and give it a shot! We were all new at this once and everybody has to start somewhere. We love creativity here so let's see yours!
Flex those fingers, gang, and get typing!!

That's right Challenge Fans... it's Challenge Time! Challenge #16 has a slightly more serious tone to it, so for those of you looking for more than just a little fluffy fun, here's your chance!
Opening Line "Oh, my God! What happened to you?"
Closing Line "Read her her rights, Tony."
Now, for those of you determined to be frivolous writers, go for it! I'm sure you can come up with something completely hysterical to go between these two lines!
Remember, newbies are welcomed with open arms and no ridicule. Rules are posted at the beginning of the thread, and if you have any questions you can post 'em or PM me directly.
Flex those fingers and get typing! The Challenge Duo wishes you luck and looks forward to reading your fantastic fics!

Happy Monday Challenge Writers! It's time for Challenge #17.
This week's theme shifts slightly to the body of work we hope to see from all of you!
Opening Line: "I don't think I can make it," she sniffled into the phone.
Closing Line: "She looks dead to me."
Now, drag those keyboards out of the body bags you must have hidden them in and start typing away! Do it for jo, who caught a cold just for inspiration for this week's Challenge!
Feel better soon, jo!!

Closing line The rain streamed against the car windows.
For those you who don't celebrate Thanksgiving, feel free to exercise your clever digits on this challenge as well. All works enthusiastically received!
Now put down that turkey drumstick and get typing! ;D

Gibbsgirl sneaks into work late... looks to see if anyone has noticed
Ahem... Yes, well, it's that time fellow writers. Challenge #19 is here! This week your Challenge Duo couldn't honestly decide which line worked better for the first line, so we are once again going to leave the choice up to you. Choose wisely, grasshopper, as it will influence the tone of your piece!
Line #1 "Wow, that must have been some party!"
Line #2 "Get away from that window!"
Again, you choose which line to use first, and the other line must be your last line.
Please keep in mind that all standard rules for posting fanfic on this board apply. While we avidly encourage new writers, we encourage them to stop and read the rules first. Questions are always welcome, post 'em or PM 'em, I check the board several times a day.
oh... and yeah, it was some party...

Challenge #20 Good Morning and Happy New Year, Challenge writers!!
With all the new members and eager talent on the board I expect to see these Challenge threads full to bursting in 2005. Let that wild creativity flow!
For the uninitiated, here are the basic rules: 500 word minimum, you must use the lines provided for your first and last lines, exactly. You may use any and all NCIS characters from the show, and any of your own that you may choose to create. All general board fanfic rules apply, so please take the time to read them first.
All set? Then on with the new challenge. For those of you with leftover Holiday Spirit, the Challenge Duo has given you some place for one last bit of pine-scented, brightly-wrapped fluffiness. Or evilness, depending on your deliciously devious minds. Have at it writers!
Opening Line The shiny gold bow looked oddly out of place.
Closing Line The light from the Christmas tree shone brightly through the window.
You have two weeks before the next lines are posted, but as always, the thread stays open for submissions indefinitely.
Give the Duo and the board a post-holiday treat!

Challenge #21
Gibbsgirl enters looking frazzled.
Sorry fellow writers and Challenge junkies. The posting half of the Challenge Duo is in the midst of a very busy week. So pardon me if the witticisms are in short supply, I simply haven't had the time to even think.
For this week we have an unusual pair of lines. Make of them what you will. I look forward to reading your clever entries.
Opening Line
Broken glass crunched underfoot.
Closing Line
"Nice dress," he said, raising an eyebrow.

Ah... Monday morning... two weeks late for the next Challenge...
Okay, okay... Stop snapping the whips already, I get it. All of you really impatient fanfic writers out there, just chomping at the bit to... I'm sorry, NOT post... Oops...
See you guys didn't even miss me last time! So, now that we've all had some extra time, I expect to see a plethora of lovely little fics. (go look it up)
yes, I am in a fiesty mood today!
*sounds trumpet fanfare*
Challenge #22
Opening Line He looked blearily at the clock
Closing Line The air was heavy with the scent of blood.
The Challenge Duo even made it easy for you this week by giving you a pretty straightforward opener and closer instead of mixing it up. Now... limber up those fingers, get those weapons ready and let the writing commence!

Attention Challenge Writers!
The Challenge Duo would like to take this opportunity to announce a change in the challenge schedule.
Starting on April 1st (and no... this is not a joke planned early!) the Challenge lines will be issued on the first day of each month. This will give our talented writers more time to perfect their monthly entries. It will give the Duo more time to come up with lines worthy of your talent and best of all...
I don't have to remember which week I'm on anymore... because my kids have finally finished causing that brain damage on me!
As always, any writer may go back at any time and submit a story for a previous challenge. And all the same rules will still apply.
If there are any questions, feel free to PM me at any point. I will be glad to answer them
In the meantime, keep writing. I'm excited to see the number of new members turning their hand to our challenges and I hope some of our long standing members drop in a few of their works as well.
See you on April 1st with the next new challenge!!

Er, Ah, GG-is the challenge thread limited to the numbered challenges or can I issue a challenge? If the moderators permit, I would like to do the following:
<Challenge moved to separate thread>

ds, I think your challenge is an interesting one. However I'd like to keep this thread for the established challenges.
If you would like to issue a challenge to the authors, please feel free to start a new thread with your challenge as the first post and let them post their fictions as the replies.
If any other authors have ideas for challenges, please feel free to PM me and let me know. We'll work out logistics if it's a feasible idea.
Thanks!

Thanks for the help GG. I kind of thought that this thread was for established challenges but since I had seen some challenge stories posted that were not in the parameters set up (i.e. use the first line and last created by the challenger) I posted the idea anyway. I will set up a separate thread and will PM you to get approval on future challenges. I read the fanfic rules and guidlines but did not see this subject mentioned, I am glad for the clarification. Maybe a post mentioning this could go up in the guideline section (provided there is not already one there and I was too dense to notice ). marian

Good Afternoon Challenge Participants!
It is time for the April 1st Challenge! Sorry, I'd have had it up sooner but I've been dealing with technical issues on my website today and jo's been swamped at work. Someday's you wish it were all April Fool's jokes...
Here are your lines for the month:
Opening Line Condensation slowly slid down the sides of the glass, leaving a wet ring on the table top.
Closing Line "These things take time. You can't rush science."
As always, please note the use of punctuation. Also, please be aware that if you choose to place a rating on your story, you are not allowed to use the MPAA scale (G, PG, etc.) At this time a short descriptive rating would be best, i.e.; some violence and language.
All fiction guidelines do apply, please read through those if you are new to the Casefiles section. And, as always, PM me if you feel that you have a question or concern that has not been adequately addressed. I'm here to help.
Good luck and get those keyboards clicking away!!

The woman in the chair slumped down in defeat.
Good luck Challenge Writers. The Challenge Duo look forward to seeing your fics!
