I don't think my sailor-father ever gave up wearing skivvy shirts, so I'm not at all surprised that Gibbs still wears them.

I'm not sure, but I think CBS holds the series copyright. Definitely holds the copyrights for the DVDs (which is rights to the presentation format, the way an author holds the rights to the written work, but the publisher owns the book version). It'd likely be a lot more difficult to get permission from CBS than from DPB, and would probably involve lawyers (and guns and money?). I can't speak from personal experience except as a person who's been involved in fandom since Original Trek (and who's even published a printzine), but I did have a long talk one day with the guy whose rubber stamp company made the official ST rubber stamps. Short and sweet: dealing with the Paramount lawyers was a nightmare for him, and that's why he ceased production of the stamps. Bottom line: I'm sure it'll be much easier dealing with Rick, Cathy, and Kathy to create special FanFest items than to try to deal with CBS/Paramount and DPB for NCIS-the-series items.

Darla, it's OK, Tony's warned us about the "Locals" ;D (banjo music starts to play). I think "smitten" is what I am about Gibbs lovely old fashioned word, for being in love. Valentines Day next week. "Smitten" is a lovely word, isn't it? And do you know the definition of "perfect pitch"? It's throwing an accordion into a dumpster (industrial-sized garbage bin) and hitting a banjo. ;D Hey, bbb: did you mean weird or wired, and just what were you on while you were taking those English classes? ;D (your English is very, very good, btw. Congratulations!)

if for some reason they altered the dates of Fan Fest, there would not be, much point in being in LA 13th-17th September(edited), (maybe I could watch David Beckham!!). LA airline prices are good now, so even this far in advance I'd like to book the plane ticket. Also for a little event in Oklahoma in June. Most websites in the UK want the flights booked by 23rd January. Am I reading this right? Will you be able to do both this year? Way cool!! ;D ;D And believe me, your Trusty Native Guide could find plenty of things to do!

Well, since I live in Anaheim, I commuted daily--it's 43 miles including the slight diversion to the 7-11 for my morning coffee. The funniest thing, of course, was Nici's contacts The most-fun activity was the set tour. Can't thank those folks enough for shutting down their production for us, for those who gave up a hard-earned day off to show us around and talk to us and feed us. Also lots of fun was winning the MH goodies in the rolling cooler, although I still haven't figured out what I'm going to do with a *UCLA* cooler! ;D Or the magazines that came in it. But my MH travel mug is right here in front of me, on my desk at work. Also way cool were the little goody bags they put together for the different characters, and the trivia quiz and its little reward thingies. And, of course, the collector badges. I have my FanFest ID badge, along with one of my Gibbs ID badges, hanging from the mirror in my van, along with the badge the production company gave us in our goody bags from them. Darla

Lemme tellya: Lisa and Susan rocked as a matched set!! ;D Nici deframed her Pauley goodies from last year and was wearing those. Or some of them, anyway. Tweeter was easily the best of the Tonys, as Tony in "Chained," complete with handcuff (don't ask! ). Lotsa Ducky. Lotsa Abby. Only one Elf Lord (or any other interpretation of McGee). One Gunny Gibbs in camo with the "bucket" field cap. A guy dressed as Abby (and done very well, too!).

6 hours until I leave for the airport. Not sure there is any point in going to bed, but will try. Hope our planes are on time. See some of you tomorrow evening. ;D ;D Poor Tweeter called me a little before 3 pm my time to let me know her plane's still on the ground in Chicago. She has no clue when she'll be arriving tonight. I'm planning to be in the lobby around 9AM. ;D

There's nothing within what most people would consider walking distance, as I recall. In fact, last year I was appalled at the utter lack of anything around that hotel other than airport and light industrial. As mcHnelson said, there is a snack/sandwich/coffee bar in the lobby, as well as the little shop that sells postcards, magazines, and stuff like that. Anybody needs to make store runs, lemme know. And I'll try to remember to locate nearby stores on my way there Thursday. "Munchies" are snack foods, sometimes even nutritious (fresh fruits and veggies). I think it derives from the '60s drug-culture reference, wherein "munchies" means the need/desire to munch on foods. (Marijuana is notorious for causing the munchies.) (or so I've been told )
