Self-sacrifice is the ultimate redemption.
I missed most of the first segment because I needed to stop at the pharmacy for some more cold meds, but the rest of the episode kept me glued to the set.

While there are (pre- and post-)production offices at Sunset Gower, the series' filming studios are definitely not there.

I'm gonna sit with Jo on this one, for the title and for her "objections" to the "Snow on the Roof" thing. Grey hair notwithstanding, Gibbs is just too young for that one.
Put me down for "Don't Dodge the Challenge(r)"

Yeah, but Tony didn't waste any time finding a reason to go. Loved the look on his face when he realized he was being left behind.
And the smile on Gibbs' face as he drove that classic Challenger past the team.
Shameless Gibblet that I am, I'm giving this one a 10 (and I don't do that very often!).

There's a big difference in "just showing up" somewhere (either at the production facilities or on location) and being an invited (okay, paying) guest. There are indications that at least one reason there was no set visit auction was legal issues. There is also speculation that part of the reason there was no set visit auction this year is scheduling: they're shooting more episodes this season and are therefore very busy. There are also still-unresolved contract issues with respect to actors' unions which may influence production, and that puts more pressure on the various production teams.
Also, I don't know anyone else's thoughts on the matter, but personally, I consider hanging around the Valencia production facilities to border on stalking-type behavior. I'd rather we didn't give ourselves that kind of negative reputation. YMMV, of course.

Anybody else as tired as I am? And as lonesome?
Roomie Mel: I dropped off your card for Doug on the way home last night.
Doug: Happy birthday!!!!!!!

Well, minutes ago we gathered around the fountain in front of the hotel for another official FanFest photo by Chad Murray. And now we have a bit of a break before the evening's events. They began by feeding us and showing "Requiem," then moved on to the greetings video from the cast, including, to our immense delight, Joe Spano!! Charles Johnson hosted a session in which assorted department heads told us about their duties--set decoration, casting, stunts, location scouting, etc--and answered some questions. Everyone did such a wonderful job telling about the show and what they do that hardly anyone had any questions for them!! Brian Dietzen is absolutely enchanting and even cuter in person than he is on-screen, if that's possible. Great teasers for the season starting Tuesday night! And the ever-popular blooper reel.
I know now that Brian runs a 5K three times faster than I do.

Well, for the first time ever, I've managed to get a full set of the cards. This includes the early-bird registration stuff and the costume-event participant cards.
Didn't see the agents (sorry, Meg!), but Doug Reilly's presentation rocked!!! Not only did he talk about everything he brought, he sent all the items around and we got to fondle them!! And then told us all to write him and let him know what kinds of things we'd like to see next time.

I have almost everything I'm supposed to bring (stuff for the Duckbooth, stuff for the Abby booth, stuff for the Autopsy Gremlin booth) loaded into the van, but still have to finish packing my suitcase. I keep telling myself it's okay that I don't have room for my bicycle, that I won't have time for riding and there's nowhere around there to ride anyway. Doesn't keep me from feeling like my van is missing something. ;D
Oh, yeah, almost forgot: I bought a digital recorder so that no one will have to take notes for Meg.

I'm glad to see that one more person will have transportation available! ;D Still no plans have been made for exactly when we'll be going to The Smokehouse. That's something that'll be discussed when we're there and have a better idea about the scheduling, transportation options, and the body count. Quite a few of us will be coming in on Wednesday so that we have much of Thursday for touristy stuff. And then we have the "Dress as an Episode" event Thursday evening, which pretty much wipes out dinner at The Smokehouse for Thursday, unless we make it a late lunch/early dinner thing, which wreaks havoc with the touristy stuff. Personally, I'm leaning toward Friday for The Smokehouse, if we're casting votes.

I've been to this place two or three times for the Hollywood Collectors Show, but have never been to the hotel areas, only the convention areas. We'll find each other somehow. Dress coolly, everyone. The current 7-day forecast is calling for mid-70s at the coast to mid-80s inland, and North Hollywood is definitely inland! And daytime humidity, despite the fact that this is supposed to be semi-arid desert, has been in the 70s and 80s. Bleah!

In just one more week from now, we'll be trying to figure which episode we're dressed as. ;D
