I only took a picture of the booths when we were setting them up, so no raffle prizes on the tables. Seems like it is very easy to get a replica set of dog tags, so mine arrived today. Thanks again for the picture Shannon.

So I just received the nicest e-mail from Doug Reilly! He said that he hadn't planned on passing around all of the stuff he brought, but spontaneously decided to do so. And then when several colleagues expressed amazement that he would allow fans to interact with rare/one-of-a-kind props, he just replied "Yeah, whatever, we had fun." Yet another reason why going to Fanfest totally rocks!

Yes he emailed me as well. We always knew Doug rocked from our set visits, but he and Mel were a wonderful double act at the BGT. I think we were all amazed at how he let us touch such rare stuff. Highlight of this years FF for me.

;D He must've had time to check his email. lol He told me if there was anything else I wanted to see he'll "mash it" into his scanner and send me a good quality copy. Doug rocks I went and got copies made of my pics yesterday. I found an awesome skull photo frame at Target so I put our Smokehouse photo in the frame. Looks nice hehe

ok Just got back from Valencia (my future new home in 8-10 years lol) Second I finally after 2 hours found where NCIS is filmed in the studio. I have pics of the outside and trailers and a NCIS truck. I was hinted at not to step onto there property when taking pics. LOL I stayed in the street and on a parking lot peering over a fence to get a pic of Mark Harmons trailer. Security just watched me as I took pics and then when I went back to my car they went back inside. Would have loved to seen some of the cast. I did not see any signs for production around the area like they do in Vancouver BC. Darn that would have been tooooooooo good. Dianna Newbie posting for the first time, but I have been a lurker for years : ) I know we all want to see our favorite actors but just a thought after reading this post. Do you think when we show up like this at the set and on location it bothers the actors? Could showing up like this and on location been part of the reason a set visit was not available to be auctioned off this year at the fan fest?

There's a big difference in "just showing up" somewhere (either at the production facilities or on location) and being an invited (okay, paying) guest. There are indications that at least one reason there was no set visit auction was legal issues. There is also speculation that part of the reason there was no set visit auction this year is scheduling: they're shooting more episodes this season and are therefore very busy. There are also still-unresolved contract issues with respect to actors' unions which may influence production, and that puts more pressure on the various production teams.
Also, I don't know anyone else's thoughts on the matter, but personally, I consider hanging around the Valencia production facilities to border on stalking-type behavior. I'd rather we didn't give ourselves that kind of negative reputation. YMMV, of course.

what to say about the fanfest ? it was great to listen all the story by Doug, the guy is really cool ! and saturday afternoon was also very interesting. The rest of it was...... Boring to me. I went to the fanfest to meet fans....but i guess all of them were too busy to not speak to me (i tried several time to just say "hello" to some of them, but no answer)...hopefully i met another french girl and have fun times thanks to her. Very disappointed, but at least i tried it lol If Deb from Ney York is on the board, it was great meeting you

Really? I walked around all the tables Thursday night saying hello. I felt kind of stupid, people looked at me like I was nuts.
I know I was kind of busy setting up the booth - buying stuff for the booth... I don't remember intentionally ignoring people.

I'm sorry I missed meeting you. I tried to talk to people Thursday too, but then got really swamped setting up my booth. I seemed to be two days behind the entire time.

Melanie, agreed if this year had been my first FF I would probably have been a bit disappointed, not just by there being no set visit but the general layout this year was not conducive to meeting people for any length of time. At the Airtel the booths, silent auction and auction were all held in one big room with movable chairs laid out in rows so you could wander around sit down next to people and start chatting, have a go at the games, ask for answers and then you got grouped again with people at the set visit, so you could talk to them about it. Having the booths in different rooms and no seating in those rooms and fixed seating in the theatre was not helpful. The buzz was missing this year. After the 1st FF Jo decided to run the Ducky booth and following her lead that 2nd year, this year the people I met the 1st and 2nd years ran some of the other booths, time for setting those up was limited as tweeter mentioned. The Airtel also had a larger breakfast room where you nodded to people, at this hotel even trying to get a table for eight at times was an interesting experience. There was also a larger lounge/lobby area. Not sure how illegal our transport journey to the Smoke House for Sunday Brunch was, lets just say it was a good job our TNGs ride had darkened windows ;D so arraning a bigger group trip, that sounded like a good idea before, was probably not a practical option in reality, given the time frames we had to work within.
Bright side, Doug was great and it was nice seeing Brian.

Liz has posted lots of wonderful photos on the NCIS CBS Yahoo group. Bustrucker I think you should get one of these to put up as well. Search Amazon they have a few different signs and things. I liked this one Before After Gibbs
