Aw thanks, writing anything mildly humorous is a stretch for me when I'm trying to write characters. I can do humor editorial, but not humor in story, so it was a nice chance to try something beyond romance and angst, my two favorite staples.

Finally read the rest of it. I loved it. Great stuff. I was balling my eyes out all through the hospital scene but then again I'm Mrs Waterworks and sort of (*snorts* yeah right, only sort of) an emotional basket case with my husband being gone. Back on topic, I'm loving the way you describe the characters and Mother Duck was the cherry on top. Keep going!
