I really enjoyed this episode. Although, there was not enough Jimmy... oh... wait... there WASN'T any Jimmy! Well, he'll be back one of these episodes anyway. I really miss Black Lung.
Loved how Gibbs took McGee on the road trip and left Tony behind. I thought that was overdue, seems like McGee gets left behind alot.

The only part I didn't like was that Tony was not with Gibbs......how can Gibbs leave his "boy" behind, I mean, after all the years that Tony stood by Gibbs, he of all people deserved to meet the "Grandpa".......how can "Dad" not take his "son" with him!?!?!?!?!?!

I gave that one a 10 for sure. What an amazing episode. Glad McGee alluded to the scene way back in season two ("The Bone Yard") where Gibbs says his father passed years ago. I mean, we all know at the time he meant it, but at least the writers didn't gloss over it and think the long time viewers would have forgotten all about that scene.
I think Leroy's (LOL) and Jack's relationship (and lack thereof) was amazing. And it was great to hear stories of Gibbs' childhood and see those flashbacks. Now we know where those rules of his come from. (P.S. What a hot car!)
I thought the little boy was going to be Lacombs' son for sure. Nice twist at the end. But to be honest, I was so much more invested in the personal story than the case. I really love these personal episodes.
I can't wait to watch this one again!

Yeah, but Tony didn't waste any time finding a reason to go. Loved the look on his face when he realized he was being left behind.
And the smile on Gibbs' face as he drove that classic Challenger past the team.
Shameless Gibblet that I am, I'm giving this one a 10 (and I don't do that very often!).

Had to give this one a '10', just had to...it was awesome from start to finish. Ralph Waite was perfect as Jackson Gibbs.
As far as "The Boneyard" goes, cj, I think Gibbs was kidding/putting one over on the bad guy when he was saying he didn't have a father, or brother or any relatives, but that's just my take on it.
I didn't see the ending coming, either. I was sure that the little boy was going to be the injured Marine's son.
Nice to see Ducky in a tux! But it would have been VERY interesting to see him meeting the elder Gibbs.
Excellent work by all involved!

You had to bet Tony was jelous and wanting to take the Challenger for a drive.

The thing is, I don't think Gibbs wanted to go visit his dad or wanted anyone to know he had one.
He probably knew if Tony went, he'd go out searching and asking questions, thus the ending with him asking questions. Well, one. Damn you, Gibbs!

I didn't want to post my opinion on why Gibbs might have left Tony behind because I didn't want to offend any of the Tony fans (again - been there, done that, didn't particularly care for it), but McGee called him "DiNosey" for a reason in a previous episode. Gibbs is a private person and Tony is as curious as a cat. McGee is content to just leave things alone that he doesn't feel are any of his business.

Can't rate this yet as I won't see it till next Tuesday here in Sydney and yes McGee did call Tony DeNosey in last nights episode but thats what would have made Tony a good cop, I know a couple of coppers (both detectives and one in homicide) and they are two of the nosiest buggers I have ever met LOL .. they say it comes with job you got to ask the questions to get the answers. Yep Gibbs is a private person but Tony is curious by nature and by gum he gets the answers most of the time.. well IMHO anyway... LOL .. Can't wait to see this episode anyway, I a lot tartlet and a tab gibblet to boot and can't wait to 'meet' Gibbs' dad Will be back to rate next week

Amazing episode, I totally loved it! I really love Gibbs's father and I love his car even more the Gibbs-centric episodes sometimes turn out a little disappointing, like Capitol Offense, but this one was awsome! I loved every bit of it.

Gibbs didn't go back to Stillwater to launch an investigation into his own past, but he knew that was going to happen and he tried to minimize it by leaving the one person who WOULD make that the focus of their being there. Yeah, Tony would have investigated the case, but he would have spent at least as much -- if not more -- time investigating Gibbs's past too. And I also missed Jimmy. But I still gave the episode a 10 and can't wait to watch it a second time!!

I gave the episode a 10 too. I liked how we got to see where Gibbs came from. Now we know how Gibbs got his name, Leroy Jethro. And I want to know what Tony thought when he saw Gibbs driving the car at the end.

Give it an 8/10. Liked it. Much better as the previous episode.
Liked the way the showed the background on Gibbs. It fitted well with the things we already knew. Mark Harmon was great. And Sean Murray is doing a fine job so far this season.
But I missed Tony a lot in this episode. I would have loved to see him more around. And this episode had less humor than normal. Of course, that wouldn't have fitted with Gibbs' story, but they could have put it in another way some how (like the cupcake thing last week).
