Great episode. Not perfect, but really good stuff in there.
I LOVE the realistic portrayal of the direction in which NCIS--and all federal agencies--are moving. "Our agents should look more like McGee than they do DiNozzo." Computer skills are at a premium everywhere and federal agencies are at the top of that list.
I can't wait to see how this Agent Lee story plays out!

Tony can handle a computer. He did in season 1 before McGee got there, and he had to have during his Agent Afloat days. You can't have just one type of person!!! ::hugs Tony and Gibbs tightly::

Nobody is getting rid of Gibbs and Tony. Real-life federal agencies are evolving into a mixture of traditional, "street cop" types of agents and more modern, "computer geek" types of agents. You need both to make the agency function effectively.
The show wouldn't work if everyone was like McGee, or Gibbs, or Tony, or Ziva. It's the mixture of all of them that makes the show--and real-life federal agencies--work so well.

I actually like Vance, but he's on a slippery slope with me, if he keeps dissing Tony and Gibbs. ::Growl::

He brought Tony back, knowing that's what Gibbs wanted and what would make him happy.
That's a pretty big acknowledgment of both of them, if you ask me.
Tony has cracked plenty of huge cases in the past and I am sure he will do so again this season. I enjoy seeing the attention spread around more, rather than just focusing on one or two of them.

The FBI in particular has a very, very high number of former Marines as agents.

Right, there is a mixture of agents with different types of skills. If you look at the homepage of any federal agency, it states that they are not JUST looking for people with prior law enforcement experience, but it is one thing they consider very highly. The FBI requires either former law enforcement experience or a law degree for their special agents.
I don't think Gibbs or Tony should go, nor do I think they are less important than anyone else. I just enjoy seeing McGee get some acknowledgment as a competent and skilled agent after being painted as the bumbling newbie for so long.
But the show would not be the same without each of the team filling their roles.

The FBI in particular has a very, very high number of former Marines as agents. And just to throw this out there, one need not preclude the other. Depending on their MOS, not all Marines/Sailors/Soldiers are "gun-toting Rambos" (I don't think any of them are, I'm just stating a common prejudice!). They can be computer specialists, network experts and so on depending on where they work. Signal guys for example are all about computers, domains, IP addresses and network cables... They come to work in uniform but their weapons are geek sticks, laptops and admin privileges.

8.5/10. Didn't like the murdercase so much (a little rushed sometimes), but everything around it was great

9 for me. I know it's only a story (and Tony is the master of putting himself out to be the butt of a joke) but I suddenly found myself feeling very protective of our boy. Give him back his chocky bar! I love hating Vance. He's the best thing that's happened this season.

Very solid 9.5/10. No complaints from me. (Vance doesn't know what he's talking about, but at least it makes for interesting conflict and he's not going to win in the long term) ETA - I guess that really doesn't make sense. He's still on my hit list and I can't stand him, but it didn't affect my enjoyment of the ep. Scratch that - one complaint. Langer is actually dead. I held out hope it was just faked.
