Didn't like it. It's like they can never build Tony up without tearing him down.

9.5. Hmmm. I didn't see it as "tearing Tony down" at all. Throughout this series we've seen that Tony is really insecure and covers it by being the clown and picking on his teammates. I actually thought last night was wonderful in that - although he originally made a mistake - Gibbs allowed him to take the lead and fix it. Tony idolizes Gibbs so much that when Gibbs is around he doesn't trust his own judgment. He wants Gibbs input. I loved Gibbs pep talk by the stairs when Tony was starting to freak. He let Tony know he approved of all the steps he had taken and that Tony was doing a good job. That's exactly what Tony needed to hear - and he stepped back up to the plate and finished the job. Just like Gibbs would've done, imo.
Loved Ziva and McGee's bugging Tony - yes, he would've done the same thing to them. I was also glad to see they knew when to stop and pitch in.
I thought it was a great episode. Missed the Director, though. I can imagine his face knowing Gibbs allowed Tony to be lead on this case. ;-)

I gave it a 9.5 as well, one of the best episodes of the season. Great job by Michael Weatherly as usual.

This is the Tony I wish we saw more of--the consummate professional who does what it takes to get the job done. Yes, the jokester is a big part of who he is and the show wouldn't be the same without that side of him, I just wish we'd see more of him putting that aside. But that's just me. And I completely agree that Tony would be giving Tim or Ziva the same treatment they gave him were one of them in charge--and that Tony also would have known when to stop and pitch in, as they did. And I just LOVED the whole Tony/Jimmy meeting. Gibbs has Ducky, and while Tony was in charge, he obviously had Jimmy. It was a nice show of confidence on both sides.

I absolutely loved this episode. High points anyway because I love seeing episodes where Tony is in charge - the frat boy remains but he's reeled in by the professional investigator. He's still Tony but shown in a pretty good light to those of us who like Tony but don't hold him as our favourite character. Yes, he made a mistake with the case originally. But unlike other feelings of guilt that can never be absolved (Tony's guilt over Jenny's death), in this instance, Tony had the opportunity to right the wrong and fix things. Tony is, I assume, written to be HUMAN. Extra pointage for the scenes with Gibbs (I hope this puts to rest any speculation that Gibbs is po'd at Tony, I never saw that myself) and Palmer (obviously Tony holds Jimmy in higher regard than we've ever been led to believe before). I adore Jimmy so to see him receiving this kind of regard from the one team member left that we thought really didn't have much use for him did me good, and it gave me more reason to respect Tony. I also agree with jo and dcrunner on basically everything they've said. One last word before I go - I love the campfires. Tony was a jock in college - huddles were what he was used to in order to strategize with the rest of the team. So he's carried it over to his job. It's a unique thing to Tony's leadership technique. He's not Gibbs, nor should he try to be Gibbs, and this is a Tony thing. When Tony is insecure about what to do, he tries to emulate Gibbs and the rest of the team calls him on it and tells him to snap out of it. When he's feeling confident again, his own methods kick in. The team outside the interrogation room (the "betting" scene). They all knew Tony would succeed, they just didn't know which DiNozzo Method Tony would employ. I loved that scene too.

Gave it a 9 just didn't really work for me.

I think it speaks well of the show that even when we don't really care for an episode, we still rate it 8 or 9.

I gave it an 8.5. I wanted to like it more but the story simply didn't do it for me. Lots of great moments, but ultimately the magic was missing for me.

I gave it a 10, if i want to see an episode over and over again it rates a 10 with me. Ok the flaws in the plot mean nothing to me, i just LOVE the interaction of "The Team". For me this was one of the best eps ever. Tony starting out sure he "got the bad guy" then being humble enough to admit he made a mistake. I loved the Gibbs/Tony interaction. I am a bit disappointed with Mcgee though, he REALLY does not like Tony in charge does he lol.

For me Bounce rated right up there with Cloak. I gave it a 10 and would have gone higher if the rating system allowed it. I'm already up to 4 viewings.
Too many things to list here of why I loved this episode but here are a few: * The private Campfire scene between Tony and Jethro and Tony getting a grip on himself to finish the case. * Jimmy being Tony's Ducky * The hangover scene - not over-played and quite funny: "McGee, say words." * Abby finishing every sentence in the initial Abby-ville scene with "Gibbs" when she was talking to Tony. * The appearance of the "TRAINEE" name tag and it's quick removal. * Gibbs "huddling up" for Campfire. * Gibbs flashing the camera in Tony's face. * "Boat. Bourbon. Basement. I get it."

I loved it! The whole Jimmy/DiNozzo thing came out of left field, but that rocked. I keep hearing rumours..I pray that they aren't true about Jimmy going to the NCIS spinoff series. I hope not. Jimmy could be like a sounding board for Tony and nobody knows about it. It was awesomely written and acted. One of my faves of the season.
