I think I will love this show !!! The episode was awesome. I loved the interaction between Calen and Sam: there is a lot of fun between them two. And Hetty is perfect . But for the moment I don't really see a Team like " Team Gibbs ". We probably need to watch more episodes. That's the " NCIS' signature ". The theme song is great but too short. I think I'll prefer this one to NCIS...lol ! Why such a mystery around Callen's name ? I mean what does the G stands for ? Apparently he was an orphan but this letter is so familiar... Do you believe in coincidences ? lol !!!

Callen said in the episode to Hetty that they never told him what the "G" stood for. He was an orphan and all he knows is that his name is G, they never told him the meaning. That's what Callen was trying to say to Hetty, even he doesn't know.

Different strokes, I guess. To me Yankee White had some classic lines and scenes already that LANCIS failed to deliver. Fornell: How's your butt? Tony: Still bouncing on the beltway.
Abby: There's a futon under my desk. Tony: Bless you. Abby: What are you my priest? Tony: Curse you?
Abby: Do you dudes in the Secret Service ever think about throwing yourselves in front of the President's diet?
Gibbs: We're in the clear. You can get out of the bodybag now. Tony: I never thought I'd say this, but I'm not sure I want to.
Kate: Look, don't dismiss me, okay? I earned my jockstrap. Gibbs: Yeah, does it ever give that empty feeling? Kate: What? Gibbs: Your jockstrap. Kate: No. Like some species of frogs, I grow what I need.
Gibbs: Hey - We're LEOs. Dennis: And I'm a Capricorn. It introduced some of Gibbs' rules which became an important part of canon. Fantastic stuff (sorry, got a bit carried away with the YW-love there ;D). I just didn't have a 'moment' in LANCIS, you know? I'm not sure they know were all the characters are going yet. Dom in particular is pretty fuzzy to me still. But it's only been one episode, maybe they'll grow on me. Linda Hunt has potential for some lines like the ones above. I hope the writers make it happen. Yeah, different strokes it seems..... I do love all the lines you had there.....they were cute, but I think maybe it was just a part of me that was subconsciously comparing the first episode against the quirks of Season 3 episodes, so I guess in that sense, it became a bit less than what I had hoped for. But still, I do like the Yankee White episode, and Tony's line to Fornell was hilarious! For me, I just like the feeling that the LA version gave me...who knows, I'm probably just being special here, but I find the characters quite entertaining and funny.....I think maybe it's because the LA crew reminds me more of how me and my band of friends are like....I guess there was just some sense of familiarity that made me latch onto the show.... And I really adore Callen and Sam....the moment at the apartment....and then with Hetty, LOL Hetty is a hoot! And I thought the ending scene was incredibly cute with Hetty putting that blanket over Callen to keep him warm....I ended that episode with an "awwwwww" feeling...which I didn't get when I was watching Yankee White... So I guess I just felt differently.....that doesn't mean I didn't like Yankee White though, I do love it....but the LA premiere just was more closer to home.....

3 autographed scripts from this episode were auctioned at Fan Fest. I'm guessing if this show is a hit they will be worth having in years to come. With Linda Hunt and LLCoolJ's signatures they will appeal to a wide audience.

It was a good solid start, but nothing spectacular.
I honestly didn't expect it to take off in the air immediately, but rather that it would build up.
I was rather peeved Macey wasn't there. Has Louise Lombard left??? I was looking forward to seeing her head the team, especially since a history was already established with Gibbs. It would be a shame to lose someone who was pivotal in Gibbs' dim and distant past!
I see the correlation between Callan and Gibbs. I can see why they get on. They are both enigma's. I'm going to like O'Donnel. I also liked his chemistry with Sam, that's going to be a good partnership.
The others were all rather 'meh' simply because we didn't get much time spent on them.
I'll certainly stick with it.
Love the theme, but by the second time couldn't stand the camera clicks and flashes. It's just irritating. It must go, or certainly by changed.

I liked the episode although the writing wasn't all that great. So so plot. but I enjoyed the banter between the characters. I really really like Linda Hunt so I keep tuning in for a while

You know what? I liked this even better the second time around! Maybe because I'm beginning to feel comfortable with - getting more used to - these characters... First time around I would've given this a 7-1/2 or maybe an 8. Last night it felt like a 9, at least.

A little group of us who arrived early for FanFest had a Season Premiere Viewing Party at the hotel, and naturally watched this after NCIS' S7 premiere. We were not overwhelmed. I was ambivalent about it until we toured Paramount Studios the next day and actually got in to see the new home-base set (they weren't filming on it that day). The "office" set is a single huge piece, unlike most part-and-parcel sets, all connected, and honestly looks like it could have been built by the LADWP (Dept of Water and Power) back in the '20s or '30s. I think our whole little group would love to have it as a home, particularly the downstairs section!
Anyway, the point of that whole little tour diversion there is to say that it was the set which sold me on going ahead and setting up to record both shows (my work schedule sometimes keeps me from getting home in time to see all of the original, so I always record), and it's grown on me. Naturally, I didn't record this episode, so I'll have to wait for a rerun in order to see it again some time when I'm not high on the fun of the original's premiere. I can see myself buying the DVDs when they become available.
And at this point in the season, it's pretty clear that the decision to run the two shows consecutively on Tuesday nights was a good one: CBS is blowing away the competition, as we all know.
