Well, being the probie around here I decided to check out everything and stumbled upon this looking for some possible help of a beta since I started working on a nice long fic. I figured I'd give this a try to see if anyone enjoys my writing.
So here goes...

The sun sank slowly behind the skyline.
“It’s beautiful, Tim.” McGee gave the woman sitting across from him a small smile. They’d actually found a few minutes in their busy schedules to sit down for dinner. It was at a reservation only restaurant that sat a few stories up from the ground and gave them an excellent view of the outside world.
“I’m glad you think so,” McGee responded quietly. Thanks to her he’d been able to get over some of the insecurities he had talking to women. So maybe he never had that trouble with Abby, but he was still unsure where he stood with Kate so there was still stumbling over words with her. Than with Gibbs you just couldn’t talk back to him. That was a definite no-no. At least he’d never have to worry about Tony again. There was still the occasional ‘probie’, but no more doing his dirty work.
“So what did you want to talk to me about?” The woman inquired. “We aren’t going to do that separation thing again, are we? It was alright for about two minutes, but I realized I work better when everything was stable.”
“Stability is good,” McGee agreed. “But you were still successful before we got together. Now you just have more of an excuse to goof-off.”
“Ow,” the brunette responded with a sly grin. “I do not goof-off. I merely procrastinate longer than usual doing things I shouldn’t be doing.”
“I think I may have to cut you off from spending too much time with Abby. She’s becoming a major influence on you. Same with Tony. If you’re going to have anyone rub off on you it should be Gibbs.”
“You want me to be more commandeering in bed?”
“Yes,” McGee replied quickly. She gave him an intrigued look. “I’m mean yes. No…no…uh…”
“I get it, Tim. I need to go back to the way I was before. Only before I was so messed up and confused. You saved me from that.” She picked up his hand and gently rubbed it. “You’ve saved me from so much and I kinda hope that it’ll be like that in the future.”
“What do you mean?” McGee asked picking up his wine glass and taking a sip. The woman’s face fell and she crossed her arms.
“Never mind,” she mumbled and picked up her fork than started poking at the chicken breast sitting on her plate.
“I said something wrong, didn’t I?”
“No, no,” she said shaking her head. “Well, kinda.” The brunette set down her fork. “I was talking about marriage.”
“Marriage?” McGee repeated with a slight squeak. “You want to get married? I didn’t know you were thinking about that. I thought everything was fine the way it is.”
“It is. I’m in no rush though. I mean I like how this is. We laugh, hang out and live together in peace. I figured marriage was just the next logical step.”
“Yes, very logical,” McGee agreed. “I just…”
“Don’t,” the woman told him. “I get it, Timothy.” She stood up and he did the same. “I’ve got to go. I told Ducky I’d stay with his mom for a bit.”
“Wait…” He didn’t have a chance to finish his sentence as his cell phone rang. His girlfriend rolled her eyes as he pulled it out. “McGee?”
“It’s Gibbs. We’ve got a body. Get down to The Pentagon.”
“The Pentagon?”
“Is there an echo on this phone? Yes, The Petagon, McGee. Get there now.”
“Alright, boss.” He hung up and looked at the brunette glaring at him from her seat. “I’m sorry.”
“Yeah,” she muttered. The woman in the chair slumped down in defeat.
