I think this would be next to impossible, because it would mean either concentrating one week on Gibbs' team and one on Tony's, or else starting to do two cases a week, which would really mess with the format. But for the fun of it, assume you're the Director and you really have decided to give Tony his own team.

How are you going to divide the new teams up, assuming no new characters are added? (We all seem pretty opposed to the idea of any new cast members, so just assume this is all you have to work with). And please explain why you're going with who you're assigning.

My choice: send McGee with Tony and keep Michelle and Ziva with Gibbs.

Since we can't divide them up evenly, it makes sense to give more agents to Gibbs than Tony. Gibbs is more experienced, it will be enough for Tony to supervise one person for the time being.

McGee and Tony are actually getting along quite well now. I think they could do okay as a team by themselves if necessary, something I wouldn't have expected to be able to say in season 2.

I don't think being on separate teams will dissuade Ziva and Tony from running into each other and teasing one another. I think that Ziva by herself with Tony would drive one or both of them crazy (they need a neutral party in there). I also like keeping Ziva with Gibbs because I think he understands her better than anyone else on the team does, and I think she also understands him better than anyone else on the team does.

Tony clearly doesn't like Michelle and if we put her alone with Tony it's just going to be open season on probies. With Gibbs, who really doesn't know her that well, she has more of a chance. (Plus he's never harassed the probies rank-wise the way Tony has, at least that we've seen.)

I don't think they are going to split up the team. But I think it would make much more sense to either give Tony a completely new team or give Gibbs a new team. Since I think Tony would probably do better with a new team (so that he doesn't have to command his former partners which does sometimes lead to tension) I'd say the best split is Tony (and maybe michelle) along with a bunch of new agents not all of which are porbies and Gibbs with Ziva and McGee. But again, I doubt they will be spliting up the teams.

Wouldn't it be pretty unlikely that Michelle would stick around after Gibbbs returns to the team for good? I think that unfourtnately the writers have focused on Michelle's weaknesses and mistakes rather what she could positively contribute to the show and I think that unfourtnately that same mistake was made with Kate. I think that it's really unlikely that the team would be split into two because of how the show is written and I also think that it's unlikely that Michelle would stay after Gibbs returns after she insulted him behind his back and to his face and I don't get the impression that the team likes or respects Michelle either.

I have a problem with Gibbs' experiance being attributed with why he deserves more agents, logically the inexperianced would recieve more to make sure he doesn't screw up to bad in my honest opinion.

I agree that McGee and Tony are getting along well and it's so nice to see! They crack me up and they have a good chemistry when they work together.

I also agree that Michelle would have to be on another team...but poor Gibbs. -.-

I actually ended up choosing Tony Michelle/Gibbs; McGee and Ziva. I choose this because the two most experianced leads would be seperated of course. While I love Tony, Ziva definitely outweighs him in such fields and I percieve her as a better leader over all than he really is. Tony still has alot to learn and Gibbs along with Michelle would be an excellent team for him to head. Ziva and McGee would get along well as a team. They even each other's skills out and work well together also. It's an interesting idea, doubt it will happen because it would be alot of set work and would more than likely take away from the actual show. Much like 'C.S.I.'s season involving the two different teams. It was a good idea intially, but it didn't end up the greatest level.

As far as actually watching the show goes, I would pick Tony, McGee & Gibbs but it wasn't an option so I picked Tony & McGee on a team!
