After seeing some old eps and then new ones, it got me thinking: does anyone else feel like the team is a more closer-knit group now with Ziva on the team than they necessarily were when Kate was on?
I'm not saying this in any way as an insult towards Kate or to debate which team you guys prefer. I think there are valid reasons to support it that have more to do with the backgrounds Ziva and Kate came from. Kate came from the Secret Service - a more 'individual' based agency, whereas Ziva came from an agency where you got a lot closer and trusted your co-workers the way you'd trust a sibling, much like Gibbs describes the Marine Corps. Kate also had more of a restraint I think, not wanting to get too close and make sure to keep her work and private life separate (especially after her bad experience on Yankee White), whereas this has become essentially Ziva's only family - she's more likely to let herself get close.
Overall it felt like Kate, Tony, McGee and Gibbs were a group of co-workers, who would certainly drop anything to help each other, but I'd never expect them to spend time together outside of work, the way, for example, the JAG officers seemed to. (Other than the odd un-wind coffee or bite to eat like at the end of The Truth Is Out There) Whereas now, I could see that and we're also seeing evidence of it - Ziva inviting them for dinner (Boxed In), Ziva offering to give Tony piano lessons (Untouchable), etc.
Maybe I'm wrong though. What do you guys think?

i dont think the teams changed that much to be honest. tony still has someone to argue with e.g. (tony and kate become tony and ziva) and gibbs still leads the team.

I guess the only one who has not stayed at Gibbs house yet is McGee. Tony did, Ziva did, Abby has, maybe even DFF . Could not really see Kate staying there after seeing what her apartment was like. I know we have not seen upstairs at Gibbs house, but I just feel it would not have been Kate somehow. I suppose the writers are just making them hang out more, so it is hard to judge. Whatever, it works for me, series 4 and I'm not getting bored yet, very unusual for me. So Kate's death has probably helped prolong my interest in the show.

I can't say that Tony and Kate have become Tony and Ziva because, I think that Ziva has been given more to do on the team and in the cases than I felt that Kate did when she was there. I also think that Tony realized early on that it would be in his best interest to respect Ziva and that I think goes for McGee as well. I didn't feel that Tony and McGee had that same respect for Kate. I think that the team as it is now is much closer now and I think that Kate and Tony's very different personalities as an example did not bring out the best in each other or the team in general. I think that now when Tony and Ziva banter with each other that it's more natural and not distracting to the case as I felt the banter was with Tony and Kate. I think that the team and the show have matured in a way that I couldn't see happening during the first two seasons.

I don't think that much has changed since Kate's death, just a new person from a different country.

Agreed.Ziva is far more closer to Tony than Kate-Tony and Kate really acted childish at times,Tony and Ziva rarely act childish.Ziva has more respect to McGee than Kate-althought Kate was on McGee's side in some ep.,later in S2 she helped Tony in his little games with Tim,and her character became more...childish than in the first season.Ziva,on the other hand, grew up in the latest ep.Since Tony met Ziva,he grew up a lot too/with Kate he was acting still like a little boy/-and exactly that is what I like about him in the latest seasons-a grown up Tony.
