I don't remember there being other stuff there to purchase, just the raffle tickets. Stuff laid out for the silent auction. Freebie stuff from the character booths, as Nici said. But then, who knows for this year? Maybe there'll be more stuff there, maybe other people with stuff to offer.

Can we do a Country, or even State count, just so we can see where we are all coming to LA from? Anaheim. Even with the detour to the 7-11 for coffee, it's something like 43 miles one way from home to the hotel.

I think it says "online raffle" because that's how it's starting out and also because it allows those who aren't able to join us at FanFest to participate in the raffles and have a chance at some really neat stuff.
IIRC, it was strictly cash.

I just had them put "Darla" on mine because I (usually) sign my first name to my posts and because I have multiple user names.

But, Meg, how often do you get to watch a new ep commercial free, in a room full of like-minded folks?

I think part of the problem with that is the fact that the facilities aren't purpose-built, like the facilities in Hollywood. It's just a plain old light-industrial complex. And I've driven through that truck-inspection facility a zillionteen times. I don't know about seeing the trailer from the rides, but you can sure find it on Google Earth. And would you believe that I've lived here nearly my entire life and have never been to Magic Mountain? Disneyland, yeah, and Knott's, of course, but never Magic Mountain. Darla We still gotta plan something for that Thursday, right? No rides for me, I get motion sickness. But I would love to find something to do. Say the word. Your chariot awaits.

What's the temperature liable to be at that time of year, will they be the same down the coast and inland eg im going to magic mountain in valencia and down as far as san diego and san ysidro(and maybe tijuana though haven'y decided about that yet) all starting from the 9th sept to the 30th sept. Oh and I've already got the sunscreen and half my bag packed ;D . Lows to the mid 60s; highs to the mid 80s typically. We had an unusually hot summer last year. Most years it's pretty dry in September, as that's "Santa Ana" conditions most years. "Santa Ana Winds" take their name from the fact that they blow in off the desert through the Santa Ana River Canyon (coincides pretty much with the route of the 91 freeway from the "Inland Empire" into Orange County) into the LA Basin. Figure "hot, dry, dusty" in those circumstances. Generally, the farther south you go, the hotter it'll be. Right along the coast will tend to be a bit cooler than temps inland, but that doesn't mean it can't reach 100 at the beach! If it's 100 at the beach, it'll be 110 in downtown LA, and even hotter in inland valleys like the one Valencia's in. Keep that in mind when you're at Magic Mountain (over the freeway from the production facilities). I know it's noticably cooler at work, within about 6 miles from the beach, than it is at home, about 15 miles from the beach. But also, strangely, there've been times when I've left work at 11pm looking at clear skies and have driven home into fog! Don't bother bringing rain gear: average annual rainfall for the month of September is 0.3"--less than half an inch. HTH Darla, Your Trusty Native Guide (and who would also like to note that the above temperatures are listed in Fahrenheit; she doesn't do Celsius) ;D

If you're planning on spending ANY time at all out in the sun while you're here, yes, definitely: Bring Sunscreen. You pasty-faces aren't used to California sun. Heck, I'm not either, since I've been in dispatch for so long! And I've spent nearly my entire life in this area.

The hotel backs up against the airport, and the Sunday afternoon stuff was out on the patio. Extreme glare from the late-September sun, even after they rolled the shade thingies down, and lots of airplane noise (go figure!). Sandwiches to eat, IIRC.

Looks like someone else has been wondering that, too, since we now seem to have a new home for this thread. To whomever made the decision to move: You have our gratitude! ;D
Darla, another who could never remember where to find the FanFest thread unless there was a recent post
