The big problem I had with the 'gay' storyline is that it wasn't actually central to the plot. It wasn't an episode about DADT, and I also never got the impression that the father had an issue with the son's orientation. I really think his dad had an issue with his son being gay in the navy, and not with being gay. So I think DADT did come in somewhere. But - lest we accidentally think that the father has any redeeming qualities, don't forget that he's An Unemployed Alcoholic!!11! (Drinking after your wife dies = Not Okay. Cruising down to Mexico & murdering a Mexican drug dealer = Okay. Letting your ex-mother-in-law skate on an unrelated murder = Also Okay.) I'll drink to that, I totally agree. Don't, there's no need to... nice to read a comment, any comment on the show... Normally I come here to find out what I missed in an episode and to read how someone else saw the same thing in a completely different way. So I'm happy to read what anyone of you has to say, whether I agree or not.

I just commented on this episode at TV.com, and I will just put the same down here....this episode came as an unexpected present. That is what this episode was to me. I was touched by the way they handled the very heavy subject of Alzheimer's, and the struggle of someone who realizes that everything he knows and cares about is slipping away from him. I usually do not like the sweet endings where the team goes a bit out of their way to help someone ( f.i. the boy whom they had making contact with his mother on Christmas I think), but this was done very well. The case itself was dealing with a rather heavy subject too, being gay in the navy and a father who does everything to defend his son, but doesn't know how and makes all the wrong decisions. Maybe a bit too much for one episode, but I think the really made it work. I even could stand Tony with his fishing about Ziva's mystery man. He shut up just in time before getting annoying. As for what is going on with Vance, I haven't got a clue, but I am sure this is leading somewhere. As I wasn't expecting anything (I didn't have time for the pre-episode buzz) I was really surprised and enjoyed this episode very much.
I don't know where the scenes with Vance are going to go, is he leaving?

I am a bit late to vote, but I didn't see this episode for the 2nd time until yesterday. I liked it a lot. Not as a 10, but that is only for the very great. I gave it a 9,5.

Good, solid episode. Not in the 10-rate, but a good one!

I liked the episode, gave it a 9. I don't really see the link with Doppelgänger, for there it was the team rather than Gibbs who had doppelgängers. I also don't necessarily think that McGee should have been involved in the last scene. He never really shows interest in old movies or Tony's movie-quotes. Where as Ziva does, if only the learn more about the US and Americans. Loved Tony's remark about Ziva's mind: "I envy your brain sometimes".

You sound pyromaniac . Need any help? Back on topic, I'm looking forward to this episode. I hope for a little humor back, and this one sounds just right. And a redheaded woman? I wonder whether we will see Gibbs's Starbucks back too. I've missed those this season. Maybe they changed sponsors?

5, lowest rate ever by far.
I'm sure this will come back to Gibbs, by Hart, Vance or his own team.

A big 10 here. I always rate high, because I love almost everything, and when I don't it is still at least an 8,5 or 9. But I hardly ever rate it a 10. I just can't get enough of Gibbs/Tony. And I love the teams effort to show how much they all like Tony. Glad to see a little bit of Vance back too. And I like how they keep mentioning Ducky's mother. And Robert Wagner of course. Very nice to see Tony's feelings for a change. Just loved is all.

9,5 for me too. Unlike the last two episodes, I enjoyed the team-scenes (McGee-Abby, Tony-Ziva, Gibbs-Ducky). That's why I love NCIS. Tim looks good, real grown up in his scenes with Amanda. I liked scene in the ladies room. Well, the fact that Tony was in the ladies room any way. And I think there was more to this conversation than meets the eye. Good episode!

Nice work too! The whole Ziva-happenings have inspired us all! I like the Tony banners too, I hadn't seen those yet...

9.5 here as well.
Loved Gibbs and Tony, loved Fornell back, watch at least three times but still don't really get what Secnav is up to with Vance, and how his file is involved. And Ziva, I had to remember the thread we had once: friend or foe? I don't want to loose any cast member!
