Anyone flying from Heathrow might like to look at the airfare price this weekend. It is the cheapest I've seen them £388 on AA. £394 on Virgin and others. That is about £40 less than last weekend. I might have to take the plunge.
BTW before we lost some things from the threads, I asked if people who went last year were surprised that, apart from the auctions, there was nothing to buy as a memento of the visit. The goody bags and fan zone bags were nice, but I wondered what the logistics of organizing things for sale to benefit the good causes would be? Maybe a pre-order, so that everything would be sold, maybe even the chance for those not lucky enough to go, to buy something. Or would a copyright/actors rights/writers rights etc mean that would not be possible. So on a final note, what would you like to buy? In case it would be feasible to organise. I'm a t-shirt junky, so you know what I want. I noticed an orange cap very similar, if not one of the same, went for a good deal of money on ebay this week. I'm sure besides the one we were given, I could have taken a few home with me as gifts for UK NCIS friends.

Yo Mchnelson That's a good idea! being as I got shirts for the fire house I will gladly lend my expertise to the project.
In order to avoid copyright rules can we sell stuff from the "special ops board"?
MODS fell free to comment.

I think my mother rubbed off on me, she can't resist bags and if I buy one for me as a souvenir (like at Stratford in Canada) I buy one for her or she'll try to take mine away.

Nici, I bet only DPB would need to give permission for that to be used, unlike the NCIS logo, which is government owned, and the reason Harriet says the show/CBS cannot put things out. Tweeter I'd settle for a bag, to put the goodies in. It was just an idea to buy something with "NCIS Fan Fest" on to raise money for the good causes, and keep as a memory. If we are not allowed to use "Fan Fest", maybe we at Special Ops could get together, design something or other, maybe arranged the sell through in our own countries, to cut down the S&H(P&P) and made the donation of the funds raised at Fan Fest to Harriet or to (hopefully, fingers crossed, that we get invited back to the set again, this year) Chas, John or if a cast member turns up like last year.

I'm not sure, but I think CBS holds the series copyright. Definitely holds the copyrights for the DVDs (which is rights to the presentation format, the way an author holds the rights to the written work, but the publisher owns the book version). It'd likely be a lot more difficult to get permission from CBS than from DPB, and would probably involve lawyers (and guns and money?). I can't speak from personal experience except as a person who's been involved in fandom since Original Trek (and who's even published a printzine), but I did have a long talk one day with the guy whose rubber stamp company made the official ST rubber stamps. Short and sweet: dealing with the Paramount lawyers was a nightmare for him, and that's why he ceased production of the stamps. Bottom line: I'm sure it'll be much easier dealing with Rick, Cathy, and Kathy to create special FanFest items than to try to deal with CBS/Paramount and DPB for NCIS-the-series items.

Just booked my flight. ;D ;D Very odd, searched through same sites as yesterday and only the AA site had the same price, and since BA are doing adverts saying book their offers before 20th March, I wondered if AA might put their prices up again then as well. I looked on Asda, Expedia and Travelsupermarket.com. Cheaper at this time to go to the airlines site in the end.

I'm sending 2 sets of mug and coaster sets to fanfest for the charity auction. You have to go to fanfest to find out what the pictures are on the sets.

Hehe. I maneged to mention the Fanfest once again! (I'm still trying to get there ) We left by train from Schiphol (the train went from Leiden to Schiphol and from there we could get back to home) and we saw a lot of planes leaving and landing and my mom said she would do her whole trip to Israel again (and yadayadayada she mentions it every time) and I was like "Ok. I'd like to go in a plane too, but then to Los Angeles. (mom & dad roll their eyes) Yup. NCIS Fanfest..."
