As FatCat said, aluminum bats are more economical, and so high schools, colleges, and assorted recreational leagues (Little League, Babe Ruth, Pony leagues, along with the community leagues) will use those rather than wooden bats. Northern Mountain Ash is most common, but more and more players are moving to maple, which is a hardwood (harder than ash). The Major Leagues don't allow aluminum bats, although I don't know what the Minors are using. There's a definite difference in the sound of the ball and bat connecting, with the aluminum bats having a sound that's more "ping" than "crack." And it's that "crack!" that says baseball to me. ;D

hehe Marks Cool for doing that ;D does he still play baseball?? and ive always wondered what exactly happened to Gibbs' knee? was it part of what happened to him out in desert storm? As far as I know, he's doing another charity game in June in Oklahoma City. Re the knee injury: We've never heard the specifics. The closest I can guess is the flashback on Hiatus, where he was caught in an explosion during Desert Storm. I'd have to watch the tape again to tell the precise injury, but from what I remember it looked like an open leg fracture right above his left knee.

Is this from a movie or an article? And if it's a movie, which one? I don't remember it.

And I'm such a dork that I'm sitting here looking at that picture and wondering what all the books are.... Darla, hopeless You're not a dork. I'm wondering too. I even used a magnifying glass in the article that was done on Mark's trailer renovation to see if I could make out the title of the book on the table. No luck. Has anyone seen an article that points to what his taste in books are?
