kentucky56, I sent you a personal message. Didn't want to clog the board with non-Ducky or David posts.

I was moving my mother into a retirement home on the weekend and I came across one of my old childhood books. Do you recognise this handsome fellow?

HA! Now that I see that cover I remember watching that series when I was little. And I even remember David! Very good show. Hope it will be repeated one time!

I found out Amazon has Kidnapped at a reasonable prize and ordered it. Delivery expected for middle to end of next week. I hope I still like it as much as as a kid. And I now know again why it ran on German TV: The main character was played by a German actor. To cut a long story short I see caps coming of David in flashy costume and horseback riding.

Arrgh! I've been looking for that Kidnapped with David in it for a long time. I've seen it several times on ebay as a VHS tape of the part he is primarily in that runs about 70(?) mins, not the whole thing which is very long. It's always from someone in the UK and it's in PAL format that isn't compatible with my VHS player so I haven't gotten it. I have my DVD player set to Region 0, but it won't work with PAL either. I recently bought a DVD of one of David's works that is PAL which my husband is going to try to convert on his computer to NTSC, but, for now, I don't know if it will work. boatbuildersbuddy, is the Kidnapped you're getting from Amazon in Germany a DVD or a tape? What format? I would appreciate any information you can give me. Danke!

Boatbuildersbuddy, thank you for the information about this DVD. Your screen caps are amazing, wonderful!! ;D This has just made me more anxious to get this. I found the VHS version on the Amazon UK site. Here is the link: www.amazon.co.uk/Kidnapped-Part-1-David-McCallum/dp/B00066843I/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=video&qid=1196112292&sr=1-4My DVD recorder will also play and record VHS tapes and make a copy of a VHS tape to a DVD. Because I'm in the US it is NTSC format however. Does anyone on this list living in Europe or the UK have a DVD/VHS recorder like mine that uses the PAL format. If so, I'm thinking we might be able to work something out. Please let me know.

Because I'm in the US it is NTSC format however. Does anyone on this list living in Europe or the UK have a DVD/VHS recorder like mine that uses the PAL format. If so, I'm thinking we might be able to work something out. Please let me know. Hi, I'm in Australia and we are such a small market that all our VHS players do both PAL and NTSC and multi-region dvd players are perfectly legal (picked ours up for $30). We are, however, very cognicent of media incompatability problems. You may run into problems using a Euopean VHS to DVD converter because 1) some of Europe (France springs to mind)use a different format again (not PAL or NTSC) and 2) most of Europe is region 2 locked on their dvd players. I'm note sure if region locking applies to tape conversion machines but it certainly applies to dvd burners (like the drive on your computer). This means that even if you get someone in the UK to convert from VHS/PAl to DVD, that DVD might (and I'm note sure on this point) be region locked to region 2 and you won't be able to play it unless you have a multi-region dvd player in the US. We have companies here who copy tape to dvd (or just about any other format) for you. Have you tried just looking up your local phone book to see if such companies exist there. Of course we have different copyright laws to you, so these companies might not exist over there. I wish you luck in your quest.
