I'm kinda not interested in the episode. I was really hoping there would be a big one before the break bu they're all kinda hmm.... I don't want all the good stuff just at the end of the season.

I really liked the episode .... found it to be warm and very very enjoyable. Just a question 'What is the song that is playing when when they wheel out the body of the dead marine with his dad and the marine chaplain present?' Starts as losing my control .....

Wow a lot of things for thoughts....
I watched the show...felt some stuff was disjointed. Didn't like the way Gibbs treated his father at first. I couldn't tell at first that there was anything wrong with his father but it seemed to be coming from Gibbs mostly...until the end. OF course when relationships are in the repair mode it usually is blaming the other side.
I picked up the discomfort from both Abby and her friend when McGee was mention the Lap band procedure (as if it had a personal attachment or something).
I thought having Gibbs senior and Ducky getting drunk a little uncomfortable and inappropriate but I also wasn't fond of Ducky's curtness with Gibbs when he left.
Overall I enjoyed it..

I didn't get to watch the show tonight - my dad's in the hospital with pneumonia so I didn't get home till 9. I want to thank most of you for "following instructions" and posting things you like as well as things you weren't crazy about. Don't forget, if there's something that really bugged you, you can still discuss it in the Grumbles About Episodes thread under Nitpicks & Niggles. We're not banning you from talking about your dislikes - only asking that you do it in a more appropriate thread.

I'm so happy that Tony didn't do something totally stupid and ridiculous this episode. I hope it will stay that way for next episodes as well.
I liked the idea of the case and especially the message they tried to deliver. But it somehow was too easy for me to find out how the killer was and I'm not really sure if it was the right decision to squeeze so many additions into one episode. Solving the case; Gibbs' father showing up and having problems; McGee, Abby and her friend trying to get satellite time; Tony having problem with figuring out what to buy for the Secret Santa. I thought that it was just too much. I mean I really liked the ideas behind it and all but for me it was just a little too much.
Liked the bar fight and how Tony almost took care of the others all by himself. It was nice to see him doing all fighting and not like it was in previous episodes that Ziva had to do all the hard work.
I was a little disappointed that we didn't get to see what the other's got for Christmas and especially who gave Ziva a new necklace. But maybe we'll find out later.

I'm having a hard time forcing myself to finish watching this one. But there is one very big bright spot and that's Action Tony ;D

I loved it! ;D It was nice to visit with my old friends at NCIS again, I have missed a few shows lately. I believe that this is why NCIS is the number one show, because of the cast ensemble that play well together. I want to know what they are up to at this time of year, both happy and sad, but not soapish, just a slice of life.

I have to rewatch the episode, but I thought that Gibbs was worried about some sort of dementia, which he would need Ducky to diagnose. I don't think he's afraid of his dad.
Yeah, wasn't too happy that McGee did that and Ziva low-fived him. Tim seems to get more obnoxious when Ziva's around.
Oops, there goes another karma point! (Hee, lost another one while composing this message)
I was able to spot the killer right off, but that didn't bother me. The episode in general was great. I loved the entire Gibbs/Jackson plotline. I loved the final scenes and loved the look Tony and Ziva shared in their scene. Cote sure is beautiful, but I wasn't too crazy about her swollen, bloody face in Aliyah. Don't do that anymore, show, it's just not right. I loved the MTAC scene and the kid was cute.
Re: the lap band joke McGee made. I thought it was funny, did I miss some story about a disasterous lap band experience?
And THANK YOU writers for not making Jackson terminally ill or losing his faculties. I loved how he went to his son for advice.
For the most part it was nice to see Ziva and Tony in a more relaxed relationship. I wasn't crazy about Tony lying on the pool table with his hands over his head while Ziva took out the guy about to hit him with something. Now I understand Cote's comment on ET about kicking with her toes pointed so she hit with the top part of her foot. The other way would not have been pretty.

I don't think he was afraid of his dad either, just wanted to find out if something was wrong or not. Meh. Ziva wasn't even in on the joke, she didn't even know what was happening until Tony was in the middle of his phone call with the "shrew from HR". And judging on that s*** eating grin on his face, it was all Mcgee's doing lol I liked the scene with Ducky and Jackson. I don't think we've seen Ducky laugh so hard in the show before. I know he was playing drunk, but I like seeing him all smilie. It was cute I really liked the episode .... found it to be warm and very very enjoyable. Why wasn't Tony prepared for the cold? Because the writers forgot that Tony used to be a cop in the Midwest and Philadelphia, neither of which is exactly a tropical paradise. Or because the writers wanted to make Tony look stupid... take your pick.

I notice that too- and I don't think the person, who's carma is down did something wrong-it's somehow like a "game" for someone on this board. The funny thing is exactly that made me give karma points-I didn't bother so much with give/take karma , until I saw how the karma points of the few people here fall down . I really enjoyed Ziva/Tony interaction, but Gibbs/Jackson interaction was ♥.

... up until Gibbs lived up to the second B in his name by siccing Ducky on his dad. Guess it's true - no matter how old you are or what kind of a bad ass you are, you can still be afraid of your dad.. I agree with tweeter and girlinabox. Gibbs was worried for his dad and asked Ducky as a friend and doctor to try a diagnosis to find out what he could do to help him or if he thought his dad needed medical attention. If you suffer from dementia you don't necessarily realize it yourself so you need someone else to make you get help. I really liked the episode. I thought the Tony/Secret Santa thing was great. A really thoughtful gift. Didn't care for the McGee and Ziva vs. Tony thing. As some of you have mentioned, it's been overused lately; also somehow McGee always comes off as particularly malicious in these scenes. He's a nice guy, why do they have to write him like that? It's just not him. I cried during the MTAC scene. I know what it's like to be at home for Christmas when a loved one is at war. My friend's husband just left for Iraq today and they have two little girls, three and 6 months. My heart was aching for them during that scene. I loved Abby's cookies, I want one! Best line of the episode: I'll go warm up the sleigh. Jackson is great! I hope to see him back. ETA: I didn't get the whole lap band surgery thing either. They were both extremely uncomfortable but I couldn't figure out why. Should we have remembered some previous reference or did they just think it was a bad joke? They seemed too perturbed for that.

Fair enough. I'll concede the point that McGee and Ziva never team up with Tony to pick on the other. I guess, to me, it just seems like Tony has given them both so much hell individually over the years that I kinda get why they do it. Is it mature? No. Good for the sense of camaraderie and teamwork? Maybe not. But I kinda get why they'd do it... That's just personal opinion though, and my opinion is generally worth no more than the paper on which it's printed.

Well, I have to say that the ending scenes of the episode made up for any grumbles I may have had with the storylines because it was simply such a sweet way to end the episode about Christmas. McGee and Abby with her friend and the little boy, brilliance! Tony and Ziva with the HR lady and how her face just lit up upon seeing the doll and Tony's smile, magic! Jackson and Gibbs moving the toys and that wonderful father-son relationship at work, unstoppable! It looks like dreams and miracles do come true on Christmas! If there is anything NCIS is best at, it's making the audience connect to its characters in little moments like these that shows that our beloved characters are still just human and everyday people like any of us! This is what makes NCIS so successful, it's not just about the case or the action, it's about the characters and their connection and bond to each other that shines! And it makes me very proud of the show! This episode did its job, it made me feel warm and happy and right into the Christmas spirit! PS- I did have to giggle at Tony's reaction when the marine guy at the bar was coming onto Ziva....lol...Tony knew what was coming....poor Tony.....he's gotta learn how to reign in that ninja assassin instinct in Ziva.... ;D

I loved the scene with Ducky and Jackson and liked the episode as a whole. Only one thing was missing -- Abby promised to make Christmas pudding with Ducky this year but they didn't mention it.
