I cried during the MTAC scene. Shhhhh, don't tell anyone but I did too. That scene and also Tony explaining the gift...I just coudn't help it. As soon as Tony mentioned the personnel file I thought 'here we go, the Santa Clause' - but even the predictability of what was going to happen next couldn't stop me from welling up. This week's case was almost the 'C' story and was probably the weakest part of the episode. I loved the team banter and their different 'xmas tales' which made up the episode.

Me too, even on the second viewing. I'm a sucker for scenes like that, though.

I totally agree Angelz, the case really was secondary to me in this one and the team banter and Christmas stories were what made the episode great!

I teared up when watching on Tuesday night but was sobbing to beat the band when I re-watched on Wednesday afternoon. I pretty much cried from the autopsy scene (when 'Kangaroo Cry' began playing) all the way through to the end of the episode: Ducky, Chaplin El-Sayid and Col/Rev Ellis - that salute just tore at my heart. Tony and Delores - with Ziva looking on. Tim and Fisher - with Abby and Carol looking on Leroy and Jack - Twin Santa Clause's. and the greeting in the credits to our troops.

Well, I FINALLY got around to watching the eppy and let me just say, if they were going for the tearjerking theme, they succeeded. I think the last 5-10 minutes pretty much got me. I am just so glad that nothing serious (health wise, that is) was wrong with Jack. I was afraid he would be dying or something. I loved that we got to see just how big everybody's heart really is (Tony's gift, McGee helping the little boy, Gibbs and Jack fixing toys and taking them to children in the hospitals), it was really sweet. Overall, I loved the episode.

So, I watched the episode. I was wrong. It was good. Real good. The case was alright. I knew who did it right away. Wasn't hard. I just hate it that he killed his brother for becoming a moslem. I hate it. I wish that people would stop comparing islam with terrorists. Gibbs and his dad were kinda a sad picture. Loved Tony, Ziva and Dolores in the end. And McGee is a true Santa ;D

I really liked this episode. I especially loved the part at the end with Tony/Ziva, McGee/Abby and Gibbs/Jackson.

I just hate it that he killed his brother for becoming a moslem. I hate it. That was one of the things that bothered me because it felt inappropriately politically correct and not based in anything that's been reported in the news. Uh ... what? The entire episode was written to cast Islam in the victim light. There wasn't any terrorists in it at all ... for that matter, the last time we had Islamic bad guys on the show was 7x01 with Saleem and he was a Jihadist nutjob. I don't understand the complaint (and no, I'm not trying to start a fight; just trying to understand what you mean.)

I think what dijas meant was the general attitude of some people towards Islam as exemplified by the reaction of the brother in equating muslim with terrorist. So people in the world at large, not on the show.

Well, unfortunately, it seems to me that all people are defined by the most vocal extremists in their midst. The majority of Muslims may be one thing, but the nutjob Jihadist terrorists define how they're perceived, just like the nutjob Christians (like that freak who who protests military funerals with inane signs about this being God's punishments for gays or somesuch nonsense) taint how Christianity is sometimes. Human nature, I guess.

I loved the end scenes. I don't think that Tony's gift was unrealistic. I could see him rooting around trying to find something personal for Delores and I can see that story being in her file; like for a psych evaluation where she was asked to name a disappointing time in her childhood and how it affects her now, if it does.
I have a feeling that the younger brother would have killed his older brother for converting to Buddhism or another religion. It would still have been embarrassing for the family, in his mind.

I liked this episode a lot because while it was a Christmas/holiday themed episode that it was still NCIS. I liked seeing Gibbs's father in part because Gibbs was surprised to see him and that it was good to see a bit of backstory on Gibbs. Tony's secret santa storyline was funny and touching and I loved how Ziva encouraged Tony to get his secret santa a meaningful present, because, I think it was a simple yet effective way for Ziva to show her caring side and it showed Tony that he should to try to not judge someone simply by their actions and behavior at work. I also thought that what McGee and Abby did for her best friend's nephew was sweet because sometimes seeing a loved one even if they are far away is really the one thing that a child wants.
