The point of a fanboard is that we all like the show or someone on the show or something about the show. That's why we're here.
However, that doesn't mean we're all going to have the same opinion about everything and/or everyone on the show. I live with my sister - and we don't always agree about everything. How can we expect to agree on everything when we're such a big "family" from all over the world?
The point of a discussion thread is to ... discuss. We're not here to change minds -- just to share our thoughts and opinions. Key word here: OPINIONS.
Lelu and I don't agree 100% about Gibbs. The way they've written him has totally turned her off - and I believe she has made many valid points -- but that doesn't change the fact that I still like him. A lot. *lol* Lelu does not think I'm stupid for liking him - she does not argue with me about it. Neither do I argue with her, trying to make her change her mind.

There's nothing wrong with stating that you disagree with someone else's opinion. That's part of the discussion process, in my opinion. But continuing to argue that YOU are right and someone else is wrong because they don't share your opinion ... that's just a pain in the patootie.
We need to share our thoughts -- and not attack someone when their "thoughts" are different from ours. Okay?

Now, I think it's time to get back to discussing the episode.
And I STILL love the face/mask idea...

You mean those lifelike masks? I think the idea is cool, but here's my problem with them.

I can see making them so thin and responsive to muscle movement that the mask adheres so closely it looks like second skin, but the whole facial structure thing gets in my way. Unless the person wearing the mask had the same sort of face shape; his skin was as toned (getting older, face seems a little loose to me); etc., etc., it can't possibly look exactly like the person being impersonated.

I know, too logical. The reason why I stopped writing is I kept questioning my facts, anticipating questions from readers, and I pretty much froze my muse in place.

I think too much.

(And even though I blame Vance for setting the two up, and both Gibbs and EJ for unprofessional behavior, I blame Gibbs more because I love him and expect more from him).

Those were my thoughts exactly about the face mask. You can't change the facial structure of the person beneath the mask so unless they have almost the same facial structure which is what made me laugh. It reminded me of that Nick Cage, John Revolting (I mean Travolta) movie Faceoff which was so absurd it was an unintended comedy

The writers, and also the choice of the actress. Especially if the director doesn't steer her in a different direction.

I wish I could remember what interview it was, but I read one with the actress. The way she answered the question, really made me feel like she was equating "strong" with what we've seen on screen, versus what I'd have liked to have seen, which is a steely determination. More like Gibbs, if you will. "Less is more" would have been the way to go here. (my $.02)

I love Gibbs. That's why I was more than disappointed in him regarding his actions during this episode - plus his actions toward EJ from the very beginning.

Exactly!! You all know I love Gibbs fiercely and I've forgiven him for many, many things a lot of other fans have called him out for. I can live with a lot from him as long as it fits MY idea of his persona. This one really grated on my nerves. He didn't need to be that much of an A-hole. Really. If he is superior (and that's the idea where that behavior came from) then he knows it and has no need to prove it in a manner any kindergardener could do. Just sayin'...

Also, thanks to jo for what you said about discussion. It's true. You think we Mods all sit around each day, drinking tea, holding hands, braiding each other's hair and agreeing on everything? The point is to be mature enough to discuss things with people who don't agree with you. I mean, if you don't figure that out, for the love of all that is good and holy listen to me and STAY AWAY FROM MARRIAGE. MrSG will heartily agree.

Now, for the face mask thing. Logically I think it's total bogus. Thank goodness I was able to turn down that part of my brain for the duration of the episode and just go with it. I didn't mind. As long as they don't do Jamesh Bond every episode, I'm okay. I guess it also depends on the state of mind you're in when you're watching. Another day it might have really annoyed me as well.
