we'd reached page 10 in thread #2...
please know that the other mods are keeping a close eye on the issue as to what we are allowed to post. i'm not very computer literate, so i leave that to them. if we are ever in danger of crossing the line, one of them will post - just as they did regarding the episode transcripts - and warn us of what is and isn't allowed.
now... what did you think of Shalom?

Thanks, jo, you gals (and guys) are doing a great job and we don't tell you nearly often enough. Shalom? Shalom? I have no idea what you are talking about. ;D But I tell you what my darling husband had to say on the matter: "If Gibbs keeps up this pace he is going to have an unfinished boat on every continent by the time he retires FOR REAL!" Well, an unfinished boat on every continent MINUS ONE. ;D About time he finished the damn thing in the basement.

it's not illegal if A) Paramount Studios, Viacom Corporation, or SB doesn't care....of course all the people who associate with them have to not care either...lol B) you give credit to the place where the original came from Would you really want to test them on whether they care? Have a chat with the guy who once had a licensing agreement with Paramount to produce the Star Trek rubber stamps about what dealing with the legal staff is like. Giving credit where credit is due is itself not really sufficient. Using something without permission is illegal with very few and very carefully outlined exceptions. Check the copyright regulations on the Library of Congress website. "Fair Use" is a cloudy topic, but it isn't *that* cloudy. And I enjoyed "Shalom"!! I really think that Gibbs was telling the truth when he told Jen that he didn't remember Serbia. But I'm not sure giving her the photograph is proof that he did finally remember, or if it's just something he found while at the house before going back to Mexico to finish the work on the roof and get started on the hot tub. Darla

"If Gibbs keeps up this pace he is going to have an unfinished boat on every continent by the time he retires FOR REAL!" At least healthier than having a girl in every harbour putting up a savings plan for a ticket to Mexico for inauguration of hot tub with Gibbs ;D ;D

On another matter, I have a copyright question. Obviously illegal downloading is by definition illegal, but are people allowed to post links to clips like FatCat just did? That's sharing info too, but then so are all the preview clips. Where do we draw the line? I know TPTB don't normally object to screen caps or of course fanfics, but there seems to be a great big grey area. Once a show has aired it is in the public domain. One day the question of copyright will fade away I suspect. The Internet is too big to control. There is a grey area, but it has more to do with what the networks/producers are prepared to tolerate rather than whether it is or isn't legal, and the Mod Squad are continuously having to re-look at that 'magic' line and try to keep this board in the safe zone. For the time being I don't have a problem with the promos being reformatted for members who can't get that damned RealPlayer to work (though this still needs to be confirmed by Board Goddess Lelu). However I think we need to request that the posting of links to 'clips' be stopped for the moment until we can discuss the situation further.
It would be nice to think that once an ep has aired that all issues of copyright would 'poof' into thin air. Unfortuately this is not the case. We have specifically been asked by someone from Sir Don's office NOT to post transcripts of the eps even after they have aired. Doesn't make sense to me, but that's the situation.
As I have said before, if in doubt, please err on the side of caution. If you want to share any questionable goodies, please do it in the privacy of the PM Lounge.
Thanks :-)

Ok here's my two cents on what I thought of the episode- I thought it was great! I like the way they've portrayed the characters in this one I think they're off to a great start. I even liked the Director in this ep...Anyways... I still can't get used to Tony drinking coffee but he's doing a great job merging team leader with still being...well Tony. McGee's change of costume was interesting, no longer the Probie eh? I hope that stays I think he looks much better dressed casual then his suits. Abby hasn't changed at all thankfully- I loved her in that opening scene! Go Abbs Being a Ziva fan I loved that it was such a Ziva-centric storyline and I definatly believed her calling Gibbs for help- I still think he's the only person she really trusts at NCIS except perhapes the Director. Anyways thats just me....anyone elses thoughts? -Nicole

Couple semi random thoughts here.
One major thing that bugged me was the Iranian chick's accent. That was not the right accent for an Iranian, I know.
The other totally random thought, I just thought about this. I can see Ziva listening to Alabina. The lead singer is half isreali and I forgot what else. She speaks something like 6 different languages and sings in more than one on any given song. I'll post a link later.

I missed that!!
Is that the name of the song that was playing or the artist?
Is there a specific song?

As to Lakeslover, are you sure it was Alabina? If so that wold have been really cool. But some how I'm doubting it. I'll have to rewatch the ep tomorrow courtisy of cbs.com. I'll know, or at least have a better feel for if it was them or not. Probably not on my part though because I only have 1 of their ablums. But if there was vocals I could tell because I'm familiar with their voices.

Here's their official site www.alabina.8m.com/index2.htmlunfortunatly all their links for video and audio aren't working. Haven't been for some time now, which sucks. Here's a fan site for them www.alabina.org
