I have never been as disappointed -disillusioned with Gibbs concerning his relationship with Tony, until now. He simply blew off his Senior Field Agent's feelings ... It's not like Gibbs had a great relationship with his own father and though it's doing better it's not totally mended. For me the estrangement between Leroy and Jack was for a quite petty reason - Jack bringing a date to Shannon and Kelly's funeral. Tony Junior and Tony Senior's relationship was broken over a father shipping his son off to a boarding school and cutting him off emotionally. What 8 year old has the resources to deal with something like that? I was furious with both Ziva and Abby - they're obviously are charmed by Senior and for some reason can't see why Tony is very wary of opening himself up to get hurt again... See, I thought it was more realistic the way they filed it (although, admittedly, I work with some real eccentrics and hang with other eccentrics, but so are these characters) and I had no problem believing the reactions you describe, even -- and maybe especially -- Gibbs' reaction to Jack bringing a date, if he'd never gotten over his parents' splitting up, especially to something so incredibly heart-wrenching as this double funeral could have been. Besides, the parent-child thing can be huge over small stuff too -- may not be rational, but for some families/couples/relationships, when emotions are involved, you might as well give up any hope of rationality! We do see a lot more of the reactions it seems you would have preferred in fanfic, and yeah, it would have been nice to have more support for Tony, but after all, this is a workplace show -- this is business, and a pretty gritty, seat of your pants kind of work -- law enforcement agencies don't have too many "sensitive" types and even if it was rough on Tony, it seemed more realistic this way. I guess it's silly to carp on its being realistic; this show has some wildly unrealistic stuff each week -- but I guess I can't fault them for when they move closer to real life.

There are a lot of good fanfic writers who come up with new ideas, mine those, if they can. Great idea, though someone in another fandom, who used to work in TV, told me that at least some shows put their writers under pain of death not to even glance at fanfic, for fear of even an unwitting plagiarism of what is posted there. They ought to have their interns start calling random law enforcement agencies around the country for war stories -- those who have been on the job for a while could tell them all sorts of things, including some so bizarre no one would believe they really happened, and could give them ideas for years to come. All they'd need to do was make either the victim or the witness a Marine or dead petty officer, and they'd be in business.

Sorry shy - 8 is already taken - it's my lucky number. ;D Actually, it's been my lucky number since I was teeny (enough to count that high, maybe) and since I'm a bazillian years older than you I think I win! ;D Besides, if 8 can be the favorite number of both MW and his mother (which I know from ordering the S4 DVD because, yes, I'm so lame that I bought the whole set out of intrigue that MW got his mom in on his commentary taping with him!!!) then I think we can share too. Well, now, let's be technical about this (who, moi??) It's all in the delivery: will it be "Stoic and Prickly" or "Stoic. And prickly" ... (suggested only because of how it played out last night! ;D) I'm stunned.

;D ;D Didn't know if I was allowed to play, seeing as I'm far more Tartlet than Gibblet, but since 8 is my lucky number...

This just in from TV Guide: Top Moments. www.tvguide.com/News/Moments-Incestuous-Kiss-1014353.aspxThis is the comment about NCIS: Los Angeles: 6. Best Foreshadowing: On NCIS: Los Angeles, it's generally safe to assume that the week's case — no matter how complex and bloody — will be solved within the hour. So color us surprised when the team left the missing-persons case of kidnapped fellow agent Dom unfinished. Is he dead? Alive? We have no idea. Now that's how you plant a plot seed. Note: Adam is listed as being in the upcoming episode: LD50 (episode 1.14). Fingers crossed for him -- but maybe in flashback?

Generally liked it, but I actually think I preferred "Ignition" overall. The best parts were - to no one's surprise - Mr. Wagner's ADD Sr. (loved the reveal that he's totally broke and hiding it), but the Gibbs/DiNozzo father/son dynamic was once more back in full force in this ep. Really appreciated the reference to SWAK by Jethro and that last scene of the ep was pure gold, but it wasn't quite as good as I was hoping it would be. The reappearance of Ziva's necklace without any explanation where it came from irked me slightly. Other than your comment about the necklace, your comments could have been mine (I just didn't notice the necklace, actually.) I wasn't really expecting a lighter episode, but the fact that they teased the "Junior!" first meeting, which seemed almost whimsical, and all the backstage interviews were lighter both in the actors' demeanors and in the actual lighting of the scenes (LOTS of dark scenes tonight!), it just wasn't quite what I expected. But agree wholeheartedly about the connection between Gibbs & Tony -- that last scene has been written at least a thousand times in fanfic of every type -- how nice that they finally let us see it on screen! ;D I predict I'll rewatch in a day or so and enjoy it even more.

I honestly couldn't concentrate on NCIS LA after watching the premiere of regular NCIS...so I have not watched past the first 10 minutes of this episode. Maybe I'll check it out another day when my brain isn't still going totally haywire over the first NCIS DC of the season ;D Exactly the same here ... it was on, but nothing registered! ;D

Tony doing some sort of finger signal? o.o It's the finger sign from Star Trek. 'Live long and prosper.' McGee would want someone to point out that it was referred to, by fans of Star Trek, as "the Vulcan salute." I don't know if the Vulcans themselves had a term for it, but I would suppose they did. The hand would be displayed this way as a greeting or as a good-bye. The first speaker, traditionally, would say "Peace and long life" to which the response is "live long and prosper." (offered only for McGee's sense of getting the lore correct -- and a cheap excuse to repost a cute Tony photo -- and as a frightening reminder that I remember this without having seen Star Trek for a long, long time... )

Photobucket is not friendly today, just refresh a bit, one of the thumbs was doubled :/ You got it to work? It seems to log me in but tells me I don't have permission to access my own album! Wah! (have sent them an e-mail begging for help, but any suggestions appreciated... thanks!)
