I had been wondering... Depending on how many of us there would be, maybe we could book out a suite at one of the bigger hotels and split the cost. That way we could sit up all night watching NCIS if we felt like it, bring food etc...
Or we could all stay at the same place and book a 'conference room'. Now that would get us some funny looks!
What do people think?
Oh, and Manchester works for me too.

So we're looking at a Friday 18th to Monday 21st..bearing in mind, of course, there are those who might only be able to make one day or one overnight stay...and on top of booking a *room* be it a conference room or a suite...we're looking at possibly hiring a dvd player, tv ..and, then we come to an idea my other fandom is very fond of...a dinner the evening we all arrive...not a posh dinner but maybe one large table that we can all sit around and chatter about NCIS...(what other conversations will there be?? LOL)...then...the other question is...will the hotel allow us to bring our own food?? As in a gang of us raiding Sainsbury's or M&S...or do we try and strike a deal with wherever we might end up and see if we can't get a discount or something like that...jeepers - there's a heck of a lot to think about...
Just done a very quick internet check on Manchester hotels and the consensus seems to be that if you book a group of 15 plus...a discount is possible on the room fee...

Would it make sense for one or two of us to take responsibility for researching and planning, then put what we've come up with to everyone else?
I'm happy to play organiser, if someone else wants to join me...
(amanda01, I'm looking in your direction...!)

narrows eyes back at pinkmonkey....*you talkin' to me? Huh? You talking to me?*...
But seriously...yep, I'm all for research and stuff...it'll all have to be via internet though...I'm currently phone landlineless...and the old cell is kinda...knacked... ;D but I'll do what I can from work...which won't be a lot...but this is something serious that *needs* looking into....
and we need someone...someone like...maybe jessica or probette to come up with stuff we can get up to when we're not overdosing on back to back NCIS....would you believe, I've already checked my wardrobe...and I could come as Gibbs...(basement boat building Gibbs that is...) and I've a shirt and jacket that just scream Tony....LOL..anyone willing to dye their hair black???

Do you want to have it the same weekend as the official fan fest? Only asking because some of our UK members are hoping to attend the official -- but might enjoy doing both. I'd love to go to both if I could afford it.

Ah, of course there are peeps wanting to attend both...didn't think of that, did I?? Mmm...well, I'll go with whatever the consensus is...though it might be an idea to get a separate thread for this as jessica suggested.... which gives me an idea...if anyone is doing both...could someone sort of...kidnap Michael for the weekend...he won't be that heavy in your suitcase...(man, I wish!!! That would be such a coup...but it'll never happen!!)... Any Mods out there willing to create a new thread for us?? Please, pretty please??? With flowers on...

narrows eyes back at pinkmonkey....*you talkin' to me? Huh? You talking to me?*... *giggle* Maybe we should have a Tony's-favourite-movies-athon. Ooh, ooh, and we should totally play that game where you have to down your drink / eat a pringle / something similar every time Tony references a movie! anyone willing to dye their hair black??? Hmmm... I do have some rather Abby-looking boots that haven't been worn in the longest time...

Hey guys - long time lurker here. Im from the uk and I will deffo be going to this years fanfest wooo wooo Everything is booked and paid for (after a little issue with travelers cheques) so its all good. This year will be my first fanfest, but not my first convention in LA. I just can't get over how cheap this con works out to be compared to the others i've been to! We have used the supershuttle in the past and they seem great! only $25ish and I would imagine they would go to our hotel. If not I am sure there is a shuttle that would go to universal studios and get a taxi from there, its only round the corner so i dont expect it will cost more than $10! As for places to eat, there is of course places in the universal studios city walk, which really isn't far away. the only problem with that being loads of tourists lol The smokehouse isn't too far away. A group of us walked past it on our way from WB studios to Universal studios last year (a walk I wouldn't recommend to the faint hearted!) I'd thought I would check in here and see who else is going as I only know Kibbslover *waves to mel* from LJ. Amanda01 - what scifi cons in the uk have you been to? I might have been at the same ones! lol I am totally gonna check out the euro fanfest thread Mara x x x

I dragged out the boxes and bags of Palmer goodies to haul up to Hollywood for Liz to take pictures of, then we boxed everything back up again (and it'll take up a lot less space this way!), and drove all over parts of LA. We visited Skeletons in the Closet again (and Liz added some more stuff to the selection of Palmer goodies), drove around some more, and then had dinner at The Smokehouse. Fun day, and thankfully it wasn't as hot today as it was last weekend!
Also parked across the street from Sunset-Gower Studios and took pics of the Belisarius Productions side of the building.

Darla did you manage the drive that Jo and I missed doing, because of the SSG visit, or are you saving it until FF? ;D I'm booked BTW. Thanks to ASDA travel and Air France, who knew "Open Skies" would be a good thing? Daft thing, it is costing less than last year or March this year.
